50th Anniversary in crisis?

The anniversary is 23rd November - a Saturday in 2013 (wa-hay!!). The split series this year means the last episode is likely to go out in mid October at the latest.

With a 13 week run, they'd have to show the first episode in mid August to have the finale on the anniversary date.

I'm not sure that the date itself will matter - it's the 50th year rather than a celebration of the first episode that will be promoted.

Incidentally, it was announced last week that the BBC is doing another big push to find "missing" episodes of old series (not just DW but it's one of them) so we may just get lucky and have something really awesome by 2013.

I was kind of assuming this would then be the new regular format, in fact. as in, the following year as well...

That's to be decided; either way I'm all for Doctor Who, and that's what unites us, right?

IMO if it doesn't work for the story arc etc, then split series should not be the norm. If Moffat wants more cliffhangers (good on him!), then he could do this by maintaining the split series format, or by having more 2 parters.

I'm afraid that either way we lose out. I feel that the split is a special thing this year, and was the only entertainging way of revealing River Song's identity. I feel that if we have a split series year on year, then I will grow tired of the format.

But if we have more 2 parters, then I'm afraid we have less stories.

You can't win either way I suppose

Or just have it so the last part of any episode is the beginning of the next. Like this:

Companion: Well, Doctor. Thank goodness you were able to deflect the Sharaggath's Death Rays using Vorla Chingra's earrings.
Doctor: Indeed. Where to now?

*TARDIS sound effects*

Doctor: Right, we've landed. Let's take a look around...

*They leave the TARDIS and are immediately surrounded by a hundred angry looking small people who have orange skin and green hair. The Doctor looks around and sees two feet poking out from underneath the TARDIS, clad in shining ruby slippers*

Doctor: Oh dear, that's not supposed to happen at all!

*Cue end titles & theme music*

Obviously, not do it to death, but where the stories allow.

I'd say it's a load of cobblers.”

"The Doctor's Daughter", "The Next Doctor", "The Doctor's Wife"...

I just hope they don't announce an episode called "The 11 Doctors"...

...cos it will probably end up being about four policemen.

Start worrying if there's an episode called 'The Doctor's Husband.' We'll all know then that the Gay Agenda has well and truly returned.......

*runs....very quickly*

I've only got one!

I hope davrosdodebird doesn't give me another one as a "reward" for voting for his party in the election.
