In the opening 2 parter when she is checking the spacesuit for 'alien tech' - how come she doesn't remember?

First off there is no proof that the Little Girl is River but I do believe it is.
I think she has had so many mind wipes, growing up with the silents that it has affected her memory somehow.

That's what I thought - because of the Silence. Hope it isn't a glaring error though. I would have thought she would have had some memory left of forcing her way out of the space suit. Also when did she turn from American to English?

How could it be? SM was clearly thinking the details through. He came up with Amy Pond, just so he could retro-actively fit River into being her daughter.
Why would that be a glaring error? The more likely scenario is that we've been led on a merry dance (not like it hasn't happened before), and the little girl is not River at all.
