Evening all!
Just caught up. Has this not been posted yet?! ![]() Official BBC response to complaints about the bed scene Complaint We received complaints from some viewers who felt a scene featuring Christian and Syed in bed together during an episode of EastEnders was inappropriate. The BBC's response EastEnders aims to reflect real life, and this means including and telling stories about characters from many different backgrounds, faiths, religions and sexualities. We approach our portrayal of homosexual relationships in exactly the same way as we do heterosexual relationships, ensuring depictions of affection or sexuality between couples are suitable for pre-watershed viewing. We would also point out that same-sex civil partnerships became law in December 2005, giving equal rights to gay couples in the UK. The BBC cannot discriminate by treating gay characters differently to heterosexual characters. We have also received a lot of very positive feedback about the storyline regarding Christian and Syed's relationship. Thank you!!! ![]() How anyone could think the bed scene was inappropriate baffles me!! Good response by the BBC BIB Glad they got lots of praise for the scene!!

![]() In all seriousness, I'll always be afraid of that......In 10 yrs time when Chryed have left (moved to Brighton cos the seaside is better for the child) I'll still be scouring soap mags for any mentions. Nervous habit. or maybe ![]() ...you'll just have to constantly remind yourself: 'keep calm...carry on...' and 'it's OK, it's all OK'

Or alternatively, is it just an excuse to point out that they can't/don't discriminate and that they received a lot of positive feedback? |

Sometimes a story about complaints only appears in the press when the BBC releases their official response and the press usually get hold of the actual numbers, so I suppose there's still a slim chance we'll find out the number of complaints. However many there were, I bet there was more praise...

According to their complaints page, they only publish response's where a significant number of complaints have been made. But I guess it depends how many complaints they would consider to be significant?

Hmm, I'm sort of disappointed they've had enough complaints to warrent a response, but sort of glad too, because their response is basically 'tough s**t!'.
