I might not like Zoe's behaviour much, but agree, I'm not sure that I'd describe her as out of her depth really. She seems quite on the ball to me.

It was kind of strange seeing her in tears during the task, I thought 'Wow she is human afterall'.

When her back is against the wall that's when she tends to make things personal, taking shots at those she doesn't like. Like asking Susan if she wants to sabotage the task, and saying in the boardroom that she really didn't need Susan or Edna on the task at all. In a way I don't think that was really meant to impress Lord Sugar (good job really because I really don't think it did ), I think it was simply a way to take a shot at Susan and Edna to knock their confidence in a sly way.
Plus in that battle of words she had with Natasha in their confessionals (shown on You're Fired), Natasha's comments were based on the tasks and were quite concise whereas Zoe's were just sarky insults, probably just to make herself look good for the cameras.

Zoe also had a major problem with Natasha and vice versa, which only came to light on You're Fired. That seemed to have cooled although they never seem to be on the same team.

Zoe is vile and I really don't know what Glenn sees in her.

As I said in the post you quoted, it could all be down to the edit, but even if played up, you wonder at the mental toughness of a candidate when they break down like that.

Yes, I have to say that Zoe is vile and a real bully to Susan. Just because Susan is young, Zoe constantly reminds her of how old she is!

She pulled it together for the next day, though, and although they lost they only just lost (by £6) so she actually performed well. She had it together in the boardroom, too, and didn't blame other people for mistakes she had made or whinge about how unfair it was. I'll allow someone a few moments of reaction at the end of the day, if they man up when it's needed.


She didn't lose it big time, and it wasn't just one question. She was dealing with Susan who, as ever, won't take responsibility for her own actions.

She didn't perform well, her whole team performed well on the second day (but not well enough evidently). It was a team effort. She didn't give them any guidance at all as evidenced by Edna and Susan in the boardroom.

She always loses it. She doesn't have any peoples skills at all from the way she spoke to Susan and Edna. And Glen in the previous episode.

She needed to "pull it together", because based on what we have seen, she really is totally cr@p at handling pressure.

Totally agree, Zoe has no peoples skills at all and every time she loses control she takes it out on Susan, because she is the youngest. She constantly shouts Susan down and does not give her chance to defend herself. I think she also trys to blame everybody else in the boardroom other than admitting to making a mistake with not offering any money for the two jobs, which she had to admit because it was so obvious!

Zoe was very lucky not to go this week and the only reason she stayed was because she put herself up for PM and Sir Alan was impressed with that and that alone! Plus he did not like Ednas bragging of how qualified she was and dug her own grave, so to speak!

I hope that Zoe goes next! She is definitely a nasty piece of work!

Maybe I misunderstood Tourista, but I hadn't thought "someone asking her a question" was referring to Zoe's moment of reaction in the evening. I thought it was about when Susan repeatedly asked a question that Zoe couldn't possibly know the answer to. My point was that it wasn't just one question, because Susan kept repeating it, and she didn't lose it big time, she merely got a bit more emphatic every time the question was asked. Susan never accepts she's done something wrong, so people sometimes feel they have to be emphatic to get through to her.

I was confused by this as Susan only asked twice of how much the stuff weighed. The first time was a question, and then she asked again perhaps asking Zoe to justify it. A simple, 'I really haven't a clue, what do you think?" would have been enough, rather than going off on one.

Zoe behaved like a whiny school kid, I thought it was funny when later she said 'you just go on and on' when she was going on and on herself in her whiny voice.

There was almost certainly more to it than we saw. The first time Zoe's answer is quite mild, along the lines you suggest:

Susan: "Zoe?"
Zoe: "What?"
Susan: "Would you say this room was worth a tonne?"

Zoe: "I genuinely know as much as you do."

Susan: "Are you sure that doesn't go over one tonne?"

Susan's second question seems bizarre to me. Why ask, "Are you sure?" when Zoe just said she didn't know. You suggest Susan wants Zoe to justify something, but what? She's not given a figure that she needs to justify.To me it's more as if Susan is ascribing some kind of skill or knowledge to Zoe that she doesn't have or claim to have. Doing it once was perhaps understandable, but then asking "Are you sure" seems like it is putting words into Zoe's mouth: Susan's question would only make sense if Zoe had stated it was under a tonne. On this show, candidates need to be careful about not over-committing themselves; perhaps Susan is trying to set up Zoe for the boardroom by making it look like she made a wrong estimate, or perhaps Zoe is over-zealous when she clarifies her position because she is concerned that might happen.

I agree Zoe over-reacts (although I strongly suspect that a lot of stuff we didn't see lies behind that), and gets emphatic. A simple one-sentence answer didn't work, so she makes her point at more length: she doesn't know and can't be expected to know. Susan's response isn't to back down or apologise or otherwise try to mollify her, but to go on the offensive.

Zoe: "Susie, will you understand: I have not got weighing ..."
Susan: "No."
Zoe: "... scales in my head..."
Susan: "No, I know that".
Zoe: "I do not know how long it takes to rip out buildings, I do not know..."

Zoe doesn't swear, shout or say anything insulting or untrue, which is what "losing it big time" means to me.

I like Zoe.

In the first two weeks she didn't open her mouth, but that was maybe down to editing. Since then, she has come on in leaps and bounds and shown herself to be a good organiser.

Admittedly she dropped a clanger in her perception of this task, but rallied the next day and had the guts to openly say that she had stuffed it up in the boardroom. Unlike Jim last week who admitted no part in the downfall of his team.

I think LordSirAlan likes her and I think she will go far.

I think that you are over analysing this too much. Of course we can only go by what we see on TV, if this is an argument about what we don't see with regards to edits, then anything goes: one could argue that Zoe threw a massive tantrum that was edited out.

But from what we do see, Zoe definitely over reacted in a rude and brash manner. Sometimes we ask questions twice, or even think out loud, which I thought was what Susan was doing. Her and Edna both looked shocked when Zoe acted the way she did. Zoe went off on one whining for ages.

Zoe also told a blatant LIE in the boardroom when she said to Lord Sugar that Susan was asking her questions when she was trying to negotiate a price, when in actual fact Susan asked her questions when they were analysing the rubbish by themselves. What's more, she kept on saying 'we got the appointments' when it was Edna who did.

I really do respect your opinion brangdon, but on this particular occasion, I simply can't think how anyone can possibly stick up for Zoe with her whiny tone of voice, doing impressions while rolling her eyes and laughing at other candidates, lying, and constantly belittling Susan.

Zoe's the kind of person I never want to associate myself with.

There are two possibilities here;

1) Susan asked this question, or other questions that Zoe found equally bothersome and pointless, far more than we saw.

2) What we saw Susan ask is all she did ask

We have no real way of knowing which one is the case, and I would be wary of making any judgements on either woman based on this incident.

I don't know if it's down to the way the show is edited, but I find Zoe entirely unlikable, and a miserable moody mare to boot.

I wouldnt touch her with my bargepole or anyone else's. Shes just inviting a headache into your life.

This could be simply a question of language, nuance, and conventions of usage as accepted by Brits. Persons not completely at home with a language will often fall back on temporising stock phrases like "Are you sure?" to elicit further clarification when they are really wanting to say something specific but do not have the words.
