I've been calling Zoe a bully since watching this episode this morning - she has it in for Susan and consistently belittles her. Even if Susan was making ridiculous suggestions (which I don't think she was), Zoe had no right to speak to her like she did.

Her reaction to Susan's suggestion to pay for the furniture was horrible - not content with talking down to Susan by herself, she actually turned to Edna and roped her into it as well. Edna was horrible to Susan at one point in the app task, but at least she didn't call for backup.

Nothing will outdo when she marched all the way downstairs in that shopping center for the express purpose of bawling Susan out over her claim of being able to sell 60 of the products singlehandedly.

Sorry, when did we time travel back to the Victorian era? You'll be saying her phrenology clearly shows 'bad character'.

Wow. That shows how differently we see things. To me it looked as though Zoe was surprised by Susan's suggestion of paying, and then took it seriously. She thought that she, Zoe, might be getting it wrong. So she checked with Edna to verify they were all on the same page except Susan. It was entirely reasonable. She wasn't calling for backup, she was getting a third opinion.

At which point she said 'Are you trying to sabotage us Susan?'

Does that sound like someone who took someones comments on board and treated them seriously?

It's obvious to anyone that Zoe didn't know what she was doing and took her frustrations out on Susan.

I personally know that if someone asked me a supposedly outrageous question, I wouldn't have the same aggressive reaction like Zoe did.

She got away with it in this rubbish task, but she needs to toughen up otherwise she'll be gone and soon.

No, she said that at a different time. She said it in the car after the first pitch, when Susan had just declared that they should have done that one for free. (Ie too late to do anything about it.)

What she said this time was, "I don't know what's going on in your head", or words to that effect. Which was fair enough, because regardless of her understanding of the task, Susan was totally out of sync with what the others were doing. When Susan said they should go higher, what Susan meant is the opposite of what they thought she meant. They genuinely hadn't known what she was thinking.

But Zoe didn't get a reasoned argument. She got a suggestion and the suggestion was to give people, she was asking money from, money. The last thing you would want is Susan blurting out an offer like that in the middle of a negotiation with a customer, or making your team lose by negotiating an opposite strategy, that you thought would lsoe money, on her own. Once Zoe has a strategy of charging, anything else is going to sabotage her strategy and their chances.

Its a different question about what the strategy should have been anyway - and if they were going to have that debate , they needed to have it before and Susan needed to make the point much more clearly. In what they have in the way of a discussion, Susan can't argue it, Zoe has decided the opposite, and Edna can't understand what Susan is saying and backs Zoe's view. According to Zoe, the boys are onboard for the strategy too.

I agree. she did bully susan. regardless of susan's abilities, no one should be bullied at work.

From what i've seen, Zoe is some sort of misogynist. completely spineless, and terrible for a business environment. you won't get any young people rising through the ranks when there is someone like zoe to ignore them and make them feel shit.

She didn't take down Susan herself, she did ask Edna "Am I getting this wrong" about how she was going about the task, in case Zoe herself had been wrong. As usual Susan acted like a spoilt little brat, she's far too immature for this process and can't handle any, justified, criticism whatsoever.

It's like she's doing an impression of Nikki Grahame from Big Brother all the time, she must be embarassed watching it as she behaves like a silly little 12 year old.

That was my reading too. Zoe was genuinely surprised to find that Susan had a different understanding of the task from her own, and was checking if Edna had the same understanding that she did.

I don't like Zoe, but I don't see anything wrong with what she did there.

Accusing Susan of trying to sabotage the task (which as you mention in another post was earlier) was unfair; there was no reason to think that. At worst, Susan was making a point to use later in the boardroom if needed (much the same reason as Zoe gave her a dressing-down on the cosmetics task)

Obviously Zoe couldn't know how much it weighed; I think Susan was asking her to estimate it roughly by sight. This would be too hard to do, but maybe Susan thought Zoe would have a rough idea.

Given Susan's initial failure to understand the task, the £150 for the desks made some sense.

No, I don't. Zoe had no way of knowing, but maybe Susan was just asking her to consider the question - it's a tactic I often use if I think somebody might be overlooking an important element. And paying for the desks wasn't a ridiculous suggestion - it's the only way they could have won the contract with the other team's bid being zero.

It’s funny that everyone, including Sugar, Karen and Helen’s own team members, thought that offering to take the stuff away for free was a high risk strategy for Helen. So, if offering to take it away for free was high risk (and one that only won it by £6), then what on earth would they have said if someone had dared to pay a client to take it away? If doing it for nothing is high risk, then surely paying for it is madness? It must be, logically. If you decide that paying for it would’ve been a tactical stroke of genius, then doing it for free cannot be high risk.

So in conclusion, there’s no consistency in the arguments that were put forward.

The usual strategy was to charge for taking stuff away. So anything else, either doing it for free or paying them, was high risk. There wasn't a fundamental difference between not charging anything and offering money - they were both outside the 'model' they'd been advised to follow.

It seems like you only see the bad in people. That 'chinese girl' has a name, it's Susan. She was the only one to understand the task of investment in the first task and sold really well.

She also project managed very well, as commended by Nick who never compliments anyone.

She was also the one who got the copper cylinders that almost won them the task in this weeks one.

And she didn't look smug about the office furniture at all, more surprised I'd say after made to feel like an idiot by Zoe. Besides, even LAS said that they should have paid the furniture guy.

Because Suzie is a complete air head and irritant. If you had to spend all day with her she'd probably feel the same.

Leave Zoe alone.
