Thinking of switching to BT and was wondering if I can sign upto BT Vision using a box bought off fleabay?

Guess it depends on the tv and broadband bundle you sign up for, on some the box is now free. See the BT vision webpage.

I'm after going on the cheapest package and BT want £60 for the box.

Just trying to save a few pounds

You can try phoning and getting a PAYG account opened. That would allow your box to connect and talk to the server, then you only pay for any programmes you wish to view. But you may need to phone a few times until you get someone sympathetic - normally they will refuse as you can only go PAYG if you have bought the box from BT or your original contract has expired.
