Beko 28 inch widescreen TV opinions?

After seeing the 28 inch Tevion Widescreen on offer at Aldi i thought i would take a look and see what else was on offer in this price bracket.

I didn't think flat screen 28 inch widescreen sets got much cheaper than £199 but it appears they do: http://www.homeelectronix.co.uk/Prod...&dCategoryID=1

They have a 28 inch widescreen Beko set for £145even lists delivery as free! This seems unbelievable surely there is a catch? Is Beko a poor brand? Are they really second hand sets? are they just empty boxes masquerading as TVs?

Really though though this does seem too good to be true; is it? anyone have any opinion on the set shown there or Beko in general?

it's superflat, slightly curved. not pureflat like the tevion which is completely flat.

First, check out the website again:

"This site is under test. Not ready for trade."

Secondly, the site is owned by Wiltsgrove Ltd. That in itself is not a problem but the goods they sell are graded i.e. not new.

Regarding Beko reliability, I disagree with the above poster. I have one Beko 24” widescreen and one LG / Beko 32" widescreen, both working fine.

Hmm responses seem a little mixed as i suspected with such cheap TVs. And I would like my next TV to be totally flat screen too as this does make for more comfortable viewing (less reflections) i find. Think i will stick with my Goodmans 33 inch 4:3 set till it wears out and see whats available then.

Beko TVs are made in Turkey and you might find your Goodmans was made there too!

Some Mitsubishi Black Diamonds seem to have been made on the same production line and they were retailed by Power House at full whack!

Beko is however a perfectly respectable budget brand or the supermarkets wouldn't stock them.

They also make quite good electric cookers...see the Argos catalogue...

But not by Beko but by Vestel.

Could be - hard to keep up with Goodmans manufacturing capacity as it trawls the world!

Yes, it seems Goodmans are using Vestel at the moment. Alba seem to do a lot of Mico DVD players (Well they did until recently, they may still do)

I'd seriously STAY AWAY from Beko products.
