WORST families to ever be in a soap
Influenced by the recent less-than-great reception the Baldwins seem to be getting, although I like two of them so I wouldn't pick them yet..
Basically in terms of acting, characters, lack of stories and maybe lack of realism I dunno, but just families in general you don't or didn't like.. For one that Irish family in Eastenders I seem to recall as being AWFUL (they were in the Square for a while weren't they or am I imagining that?). Quite cliched too and probably rather offensive lol. I was fairly young at the time though so I don't remember huge amounts.. The Marsdens in Emmerdale were diabolical too. The acting by three of them was bad (apart from their exit), they were forced upon us for a while with some stupid affair storyline but it was hard to care and it was badly acted and put together, then they disappeared entirely for a couple of weeks. The young girl was the only decent one there and given a reasonable story, and Siobhan of course, but I don't really count her and Paul as they were kind of seperate. Also must mention the Soapstars family, but that REALLY was mostly the writers' fault. The dad was crap yes, but the mum was alright (FAR better than Francis in the Marsdens) and the only one given anything remotely interesting to do. They were isolated from the village, like the Ferreiras in EE, but unlike them were basically ignored by the writers. You can't really say whether the three kids were good or not, because you virtually never saw them! The oldest girl in particular I thought had a lot of potential. They were treated terribly and I imagine their careers will have suffered since because they've got this unfair tag now. |

Yes the Irish family (well I wouldn't say family) they were more cousins, Mary and Conor were diabolical. I was quite young at that time too and I remember the uproar in Ireland when that episode of EastEnders of Pauline Fowler in Ireland visiting her cousin or whatever, very very offensive and stereotyped. Barbara Windsor appeared on Irish telly chat show a few years later and the host brought it up with her lol And they havent' dared put an Irish family in since then, only Tom who was given a brain tumour but before that could kill him he was obliterated lol I thought Tom was a good character but anyways
The Di Marcos were very annoying I thought. Beppe or Pepsi as I used to call him lol I don't know their storylines were quite boring. although I did like the entrance of Beppe's ex wife Sandra when she slapped his mother in the restaurant. Apart from Gianni being beaten up by Steve Owen's mad sister I can't really remember any other storylines they had. And even more annoying, Tony split up with Simon an went out Theresa! lol IN Corrie the Ramsdens I didn't like really. There aren't many families in Corrie though that I didn't like. |

![]() The Harrises promised a lot but gave very little, although I think they are well acted on a whole, even if Lucy-** Hudson (Katy) still thinks that its a good idea to put such heavy stress on certain words....oh and go "uhhh Martin" all the time. Agree with the Marsdens in Emmerdale and of course the dreaded Soapstars family, the Reynolds didn't do much for me either. In EastEnders, the Ferreiras and I've grown to dislike the Slaters - they've had too much in their short time in Walford. From EastEnders past, I began to really dislike the Kapoors - Sanjay and Gita, because up until they left all Gita went on about was Sanjay and her sister Meena...and a few squeals about baby Sharmilla thrown in for good measure oh and Gita's "conquest" Guppy. At least the Kapoors started off on a much better footing than the Ferreiras. Didn't the writers ever think to look back at all the successful ethnic families that have appeared in the Square before they created the Ferreiras. The Taverniers, Kapoors and of course the Osmans were all brilliant - I said a few weeks ago that the writers seem to be emulating the Osmans with the whole Ferreiras cab business. They'll never out-do the legend that is OzCabs! |

I can't remember the name of the family, but they were in Emmerdale. The father was possibly a doctor and the 13 year old daughter was pregnant, by the older daughter's boyfriend, and eventually gave birth to a daughter called Geri (why do I remember this rubbish
). They were awful, and didn't last very long at all. In Corrie, the Ramsden's were awful (cheifly down to the husbands complete inability to act) and I never have, and never will, like Les Battersby - although I can't class them as the worst family as I like the rest of them. In EE the Di Marco's were awful. |

In Corrie the Ramsdens were bad. Matt was a graduate of the same drama school as Adam Rickett i.e the cardboard school. The Harris' not so good either. Angela is the best of a bad lot.
In Emmerdale the soapstar family and the Ramsdens. In EE the Ferraria's but as someone else said the Fowler's have gone downhill a lot of late. Can't understand why Pauline won't let Martin and Sonia move out, (can't understand why they moved in either), all she does is moan constantly, Martin is a tool. |

Any of the "later" families in Brookside, from the Bankses onwards. Musgroves, too. And Shadwicks. Tiresome, two-dimensional families who brought loads of personal crises to Brookside Close, and started rowing, divorcing and getting raped before we'd even worked out everyone's name.

chuff.x. )I liked the Musgroves too but only because I was good at doing an impression of Niamh saying "Joeyyyy I can't readddd" Once both families got tied up in the rape case, any decency they had was lost. |

Niamh was particularly annoying. That family was the first of the nails in Brookie's coffin. (Later hammered in by Jennifer Ellison). However, I saw Niamh onstage in The Graduate last year (alongside Glynis Barber as Mrs Robinson), and she was very good. Completely dispelled the horrible memories of that crap family ...

THE WATTS! Especially Dirty Den.
Aside from them, yes the Musgroves, I liked Niamh - didn't her and Max engage in a bit of extra marital? There was an old fella as well who always seemed to be gardening, aside from when he took Jessie to the the Albert Dock or somewhere. The husband Joey was a pisshead, I don't really remember much else about them though. However, the Watts are in my opinion the worst thing ever to have happened in the soap world (aside from Sharon) |

Most of the EE families are just generally offensive people.
The Ferreiras are universally considered to be a bunch of bell ends; The Fowlers now consists of whinging old bag Pauline sticking her oar in; The Watts has the multi-accented Vicky (who does in certain lights look like a bloke) and Internet perv Dirty Den; The Slaters have three sisters who no-one ever sees, namely Little Mo, Belinda and lastly Limping Lynne the Lush, the family is however fastidiously held together by morbidly obese emotional wreck Charlie Slater and the fantastic Big Mo Harris (the only one who can act amongst them) Elsewhere we have Pat, former member of the Evans', all of whom are now dead; The remnants of the Mitchells (i.e. dippy Sam and Billy) and all that remains of the Jacksons is Jim... |

This is really annoying me now, I can't remember the name of the family!!! I remember the incedent and am desperately trying to remember the family so if anyone knows please tell me!!The Cairns family is ringing bells, but as I can only remember one son and one daughter I'm pretty sure it wasn't them! |
