And of course, every episode brings you closer to that fateful moment when Ms Fisher is no more

Dam that Ram. I'm all over the place with them now, I've just gone back to the episodes when Myra first comes in and Colleens family die.

Don't know what episodes I'll be watching tomorrow

Joyce Barry is Governor at the moment...
I like Joyce - but I don't think as Governer she was strong enough to stand up to Joan - or anyone else for that matter .

No she was a good character but not Governor material, the way Joan spoke to her when she was in charge was great.

I think this is a good era of the show always a lot going on, although there's been a lot of exits over the last few episodes there is still enough good characters in it ( and Meg)
I wish they would show the whole Prisoner Cell Block H series again on television here in the UK. Just like Channel 5 did - from start to finish nationally . All 692 episodes.

I agree - Joyce is a very nice lady. However, Joan wasn't going to tolerate her standing in the way of what she wanted - which was Joyce's job as Governor.

Joan felt she had a natural right to be in charge.

I loved the Joyce and Joan relationship, however rude Joan was to her the next day Joyce would be friendly and always try to start a conversation with her when she obviously wasn't interested

Yeah I loved that, I think it was late 90's when Channel 5 showed them, about half four in the morning, used to watch them before work. Thankfully I've got most of them on DVD now.

Just watched 553, Joan passed out pretty quickly from that smoke, can't remember it having that quick an effect on her during the Fire episodes

I think Joan may have enjoyed winding people up and it didnít work with Joyce. I think Joyce just accepted that that was the way Joan was. All in a dayís work.

I like Joyce. I actually think that given the job of Governor permanently she could have been far firmer in the role than some people may have expected.

I really do think it was good of Channel 5 to show the series uninterrupted from start to finish at the same time right across the UK . As I'm sure you know, when Prisoner Cell Block H was on ITV it was shown regionally which meant some areas were months ahead of others sometimes making it difficult to talk to some fans from other parts of the country because you didnít want to spoil their viewing by mentioning something in Prisoner Cell Block H that they hadnít seen yet. It was good of ITV to show the series of course. I think Central ITV was the first.

Where do you get your DVDs of Prisoner Cell Block H from zooooooooooooo?

Yeah when it was on ITV they used to change the days around and some areas were behind others.

I used to buy the Prisoner DVD's from HMV but the last few times I have ordered on Amazon. Only need the last 92 episodes now.

That's great - you're really close now to having the whole of that marvellous series on DVD.

I read a while back about the possibility of all the 692 episodes of Prisoner Cell Block H being released in a DVD box set in the UK. I assume that that has not happened and that that is why you are buying the DVDs in stages?

Yeah just two more volumes now

I don't know whether they have or are doing the entire boxset or not because I have been buying them in seperate volumes for the last 5 years . So it's taken a long time but I'm nearly there.

Hope they do do the whole boxset though, I'm sure there will be enough people wanting to buy it.

I admire you enormously, zooooooooooooo, for spending the time and money on building up a DVD library of almost every episode of Prisoner Cell Block H. Hopefully soon you will complete that library and perhaps become the first person in the UK to have every DVD released of the series.

I agree with you - I think that if the whole series (all 692 episodes) were released in the UK thousands of fans would buy it. It might cost over £600 though. Do you think that it would cost about that?

Thanks , I think there are other posters on here who have them all.

It cost me about £30 for each volume of 32 episodes, so I expect it would be around the £600 mark.

Hey there,

You're a little behind the times lol the DVD volumes have been selling well since 2008. Think loads of people have been buying them and are waiting for the last 2 volumes. Before that there were smaller DVD collections of the entire series on sale individually.

Also in addition to this there is an entire box set for sale in a silver brief case. Think it's a bit of a collectors item.

Yes - I calculated what I think might be the likely cost of a UK DVD box set with all 692 episodes of Prisoner Cell Block H on the cost of one of the volumes such as the one to which you refer above.

Thanks for your reply. I like your user name here .

I've seen some volumes of Prisoner Cell Block H DVDs on sale in the shops and wasn't aware - until I saw them - how many are now available. I thought, until then, that only the first twenty or thirty episodes had been released. It's good to find out here that most of the series is now availabe on DVD in the UK.

It might be easier for some people to buy the series in stages rather than all 692 episodes in one go (in a DVD box set of the entire series).

It's good at the moment where I'm watching, there are 4 good baddies (if that makes sense) in the prison Reb, Phyllis, Gloria and Margo. Unfortunately Doreens presence in these episodes spoil things a bit.

I watched one the other day where the actress who played Margo was in it playing one of Marilyn's prozzie mates. Very early episode, possibly episode 10.
