The user who uploaded it only started last year so it hasn't been on for that long. I agree, the storylines are ludicrous
'TaintedBeach'

Watched the first 16 episodes so far! Gotta love Annie Douglas!

Freda Green, she always reminded me of Tammy Fisher
Funny they gave a full name to an extra who doesn't get any lines. Or does she?

She doesn't remind me of Tammy tbh. But Tammy and her girlfriend look like eachother. For a while in the series it seems there's so much similar looking brunettes in the background it's easy to get them mixed up.

I can't remember Freda ever speaking, but she deserved a full name for her eyeball acting.

Tammy was much better looking than Ros though . I always liked the extras (well there were a few awful ones) but overall they were good and added to the show, seeing the same faces there for years was good.

A million per cent agree with you there, the extras were brilliant.

I was gutted when they killed off Lil and Mary Adler

Yeah it was a shame, but at least they got an exit instead of just disappearing (like Bev Cavelli etc)

I've been thinking about the role of the heavies in the series and how they developed.

In the beginning Frankie didn't really need any assistance really did she, so perhaps the beginning was with

Martha Eaves
Lil and Bev
Lil and Ronnie
Lil and Jacko
Lil and Mary
Mary and Francis - for Phyllis
Francis, Alice and Lou - for Reb
Francis, Alice and Kath - for Lou
Alice, Wendy and Faye - for Lou
Maggot, Vicki and Debbie - for Kath

I'm losing it now, not sure who else to include.

I think you've just about covered it. my favourites were always Reb with Lou, Alice and Frances as heavies and Lou with Alice, Kath and Frances as heavies, really liked all of them. Good to see Kath Deakin seems quite popular on here.

Oh yes, lots of love for Kath.

Pity they just made her disappear

Did we ever find out how Frances Harvey ever ended up in Wentworth?

I always wondered about that. When she was at The Halfway House she was friends with Judy and then in prison they seem to hate each other. I wonder if Judy had lagged on Frances for something and got her put back inside and that's why they hate each other, probably not though

Can someone please tell me, what exactly happened to Cass Parker when Dennis Cruickshank hit her? Was it a sort of breakdown?

I'm not too sure what happened to Cass Parker in that particular storyline. Was it Dennis? Not Bridges was it? Was Cass unable to talk? pure guess work here. Though remember those characters very well indeed.
I do remember when Dennis was involved with one of the fellow officers, Heather. Her character was a jolly hockeysticks type, she could be a tad cringe worthy to watch but as always with Prisoner. Always very watchable.

I am watching the episodes around when Monica is released and Lyn Warner is hijacked by mistake. To hear Lyn tell her captors that they are something out of a comic ( I hope I am hearing it correctly ) was too funny.

There was a character I noticed in the rec room around those episodes who wasn't a regular but had a very bright almost red and what looked like a bobbed wig it appeared. She had a few lines and was quite mouthy.
Characters like these came and went. Though more noticed in the earlier Prisoners I think.

The class distinction was very strong in the earlier Prisoner episodes. Those characters who had an English accent or soft Australian accent had, 'status'.

Oh and Bea Smith looked amazing in the green dress and dark hair when she was on the run.

Good times.

Thanks Ali_CW, yeah it was Dennis, it hust puzzled me why Cass suddenly curled up in the foetal position andstopped talking.

I'm currently at the Angel Adams era, having just finished Marie Winter and Bev Baker.

I loved Cass, a chuck, chuck here, chuck, chuck there...........

Didn't the Freak have something to do with her going, as after she went doolally after decapitating Bridges with the spade, didn't the Freak start setting her up to lose it, so that she could have her shipped to Ingleside, which she managed to do ?

Did the actress who played Kath Deakin not have any big parts on Australian TV?

I typed her name in to Google and couldn't find a thing about her.

I'm far too lazy to read through these post,so I may be repeating old news;but I've just seen advertised on channel 5 a new series that the voice over said"is taking Australia by storm"called "Wentworth".and yes its a drama set in a woman's prison. The voice over also said "who will be top dog in cell block h". not sure when it's on;but the sets look more realistic than prisoner sell block h.

I hope it does not disappoint. I have seen the trailer on Channel 5, but it remains vague, no date yet, or time of transmission. I could do with a new fix from Cell Block H and Wentworth. It's been too long, as it was 21st May 1996 when the original series last ever episode was broadcast on Anglia TV after a 7 year run. I know it did come to 5 some time after, but that was when Channel 5 was unavailable to much of the nation on analogue, and the times it was shown were around dawn, so barely counts as a decent transmission. Plus, did Channel 5 ever end up showing all 692 original episodes?

It would sure be nice to see Joan "The Freak" Ferguson (Maggie Kirkpatrick) show up at some point in the new show, but I'm certain that will remain wishful thinking. I'm interested to see what kind of loose continuity it maintains from the original. Look forward to finding out when we are told its time and date.
