My father in law had a 32 inch DGM Television which wasn't working. As he got bored with it sitting there, I said I'd take it off his hands as I know a thing or 2. Well I don't know enough haha.

What's happening is, I plug it in and the usual red light appears, then I press the on button, it flashes yellowy-greeny for the amount of time I hold it down then just goes back to red.

Anyone know what could be wrong and how to fix it? Because it's a smashing TV and what with Southampton being in the 2nd tier next season, we'll have more games on TV lol =p

Hard to tell from a distance really. These days many sets are powered by Switch mode power supplies and some don't seem to last very long as the manufacturers try and cut costs by using inferior components. If you have the full model number you could try using Google or any other search engine to see if anyone else has had similar problems.I think Digimate offered a 3 year warranty but don't know if this would apply to your set,I'd start at the PSU end and try searching for a "Repair kit"from Charles Hyde&Son(CHS)on the internet.I know that they have repair kits so a hunt there would be a starting point. One thing to remember is many of these sets were made by someone else and often rebadged for numerous different companies so all is not lost. The repair kits are fairly cheap and usually contain the components that should have been used in the first place but the benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing<vbg>

Almost certainly a power supply problem.

But anyone who would need to ask is not qualified to fix it.

There may be numerous faults for a problem/symptom, in which case the serviceman's enquiring nature will take over and they will look into what is causing the fault.

PS, I can repair radios and I'm not qualified

OK, replace 'qualified' with 'competent'
