I've noticed recently when I pause a lve broadcast then select play I get subtitles on the picture. The HDR hasn't done this before, only noticed it in the last few months. Pressing the subtitle button doesn't get rid of the subtitles when playing a paused recording! Subtitles are off by default, so what am I doing wrong? Any help welcome.....

Its not worth using anyway, when the program ends, youll lose the buffer and miss out on the ending.

Yet another massive bug Humax refuse to fix.

An old bug which has been reported many times over the last year.

Fix is to press ok key twice while the subtitles are showing.

That doesnt work for me or others, it just sends me back to live TV but strangely does work for some.

Maybe it was because of the old/new firmware.

It is an issue with .13 and the new .15 with the Foxsat-HDR box.

I did not realise it did not work with some HDR boxes...

I typically have to do it every day and thus I am used to the bug

Lol, another thing they could be arsed to fix.

I did meant the fix, its happened to me 3 times and each time it sent me back to live TV losing the buffer.

Maybe because I was still on the 13 but the pressing ok works on the 15?

Plot thickens !
On the old # 13 I was used to stopping it with " OK, OK"
With # 15 that no longer works but if I press "EXIT, EXIT" subtitles are gone.

Has anyone still getting to work with " OK, OK" on #15 ?
Or is "EXIT, EXIT" working for everyone on # 15 ?

Just to complicate this further, I stopped using the Humax remote, months ago, because the OK button stopped working. I now usually use a Harmony 300, so I found EXIT twice on that but I went back to my broken Humax remote & found that EXIT, EXIT worked with that one too.

OK OK was OK for me on 15 last night.

Thats strange, on 13 ok, ok 100% did not work for me. Havent needed to try it on 15 yet.

I just tested it with 15, pressing ok or back twice now works for me on it so it was the firmware making the difference.

It would have of course been better for every customer if they had just fixed it....

The other joke is that is that if you watch delayed live tv and press subtitles it says they are not available

Brilliant, so we get it when we dont want it and deaf people who want it often cant get it.

Its been years and they still havent fixed it and i dont expect any more updates either.

It's a work around, not a fix, but I have programmed a macro on my learning remote control such that the Play button sends "Play Exit Exit". Provided you use play and not a re-press of pause to resume viewing after a live pause the subs are killed. I have two macro functions set up; above, and "Schedule Red" for Guide.

Thanks for the feedback, I've tried both 'exit exit' and 'ok ok' and both appear to work on my HDR with latest firmware. The 'exit exit' option seems the better option as no menu appears...cheers

I hadn't come across this subtitle issue and so I tried it out but, at first, couldn't make it happen. I then changed to BBC1 HD and got the subtitles when resuming from pause. Does this only happen on certain channels? I haven't tried too many (and probably won't!) but I've only had it happen so far on BBC HD and BBC1 HD.

Pre the .15 update, this was only an occasional issue on Channel 5 but since the update it affects BBC channels too. The OK-OK solution (as reported by others) doesn't remedy it anymore. Wondering whether this was an issue picked up by the Beta testers. Either way, with this and the delay in the update of the EPG after pressing guide (yes I know of the schedule/red button workaround on this), I feel like I've now got a more 'buggy' and 'clunky' box than I ever had.

I don't seem to get the subtitle bug on my box (not that I use Live Pause terribly often) nor does OK/OK drop back to live, but I did perform a Factory Reset - after noting down the schedule, which gets wiped - before upgrading to .15. Could be worth trying for anyone who finds the workaround particularly inconvenient. IIRC also grahamlthompson indicated the bug could manifest differently if you'd swapped in a different BBC region to the 101/102 slots.

Issues relating to subtitles go back to 2009.

Back then, it even made recordings which played back with them on along with the still present issue that sometimes after pause live tv you get subtitles.

Scrap that, don't bother Happened last night when going into live pause on the F1, which was already being recorded. Exit x2 cleared the subtitles though.

I can confirm that the subtitles now come on after a live pause on BBC1 HD (not on BBC HD - curious )

Pressing exit once gets rid of the progress bar, pressing exit a second time loses the subtitles. If you wait for the progress bar to time out only 1 exit is needed.

Pressing the sub button while viewing live and selecting english, repeat and select off stops the subs appearing after a live pause on my hdr.

On the BBC1 SE Breakfast show this morning I tried the "EXIT" method for the first time

But only one press of "EXIT" was required to get rid of the subtitles....

You only need two if the progress bar is still on the screen.
