Cheapest website for this camera lens
coolpix

I have a Canon EOS 500d camera.
Just wondering as to the cheapest website where I can buy a 70-300mm lens for this camera.
I have searched the internet but I find that they are way overpriced.

What make are you looking for Canon or Tamron?

I heard that the Canon one is better. So Canon.

Tamron, Canon & Sigma each make two 70-300mm lenses, one with Image stabilisation and one without. I would rule out the non stabilised lenses. Canon L series is £900 plus, I cant find the non L lens for under £300 plus.

I would recommend the Canon 55-250mm IS. Its the cheapest Image stabilised lens and can be had at Amazon for £150. Unless you think the extra 50mm is worth £150.

I bought the 55-250 lens from HERE. It's about a tenner cheaper than amazon. If you use the quidco cashback site go through there too

Take a look here:

http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat5.html

They list the 70-300 cheapest being £371.

There's also the 75-300 which is currently on offer at Amazon for £153.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...r-21/ref=nosim

You can also try the Mifsuds website second hand section where you can get some ultra-bargains sometimes. I got a Sigma 12-24 second hand for £300, and those buggers are like gold dust.

Well some people are better at searching than others & they would know the websites from previous experience. Thanks for all the help lads.

I tend to pick up lenses from ebay. If you know what you're doing, can make some great savings. e.g.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIGMA-DG-70-30...ht_1081wt_1059
SIGMA £74 winning bid.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TAMRON-AF70-30...ht_2206wt_1282
TAMRON £77 winning bid

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-EF-III-U...#ht_500wt_1076

Canon £63.09 winning bid

Too true, there are bargains to be had - I got a 24-70L and 24-105L from ebay for a combined total of just under £800, both in tip-top condition.

Fair enough seems quite a few people have had issues. Can't say I had a problem with my order from them though. Arrived about a week after ordering with no problems

I got a refurbished Canon 75-300 lense for £100 in the camera shop in Birmigham city centre. Not had the slightest issue with it so well worth looking in your local camera shop for this sort of thing.

I received the lens from Amazon for €177 including postage the other day & tested it out. I'm very happy with the quality & the focussing works faster than I thought it would.
