If I was picked to play football for England I would try hard. I would not be very good. It is whether you are any good or not that matters.

She was not.

She ran around trying to sell people product, poorly, and then whined that they were "all poor" simply because they would not buy from her.

Others seemed to have less problem selling.



Because she was at fault and she deserved it. Had she not argued back and try to avoid the blame for her own catastrophic error (unlike Zoe in the last task who admitted when she was at fault - a good trait) then it would not have escalated.

As to whether Zoe is less able than Susan, yours was a daft comment to make as it is clear that in some areas Susan is more able and in some areas she is less able.



Why wouldn't she given Susan's business is in skincare/beauty. That simply shows the level of trust Zoe felt towards Susan's professed expertise. An expertise that paid off in some areas of the task and was lacking in others which goes to show what I have said since the start. That Susan has great potential, is certainly a contender, but is far from the finished article. She is also very immature and needs to learn to take criticism instead of whining about it and harping on about it much much later.

Interesting that you chose to omit my first paragraph where I pointed out that they had only £80 worth of product left at the end of the day - and not all of it was the tanning lotions - a lot of the unsold stuff was Zoe's choice - the ridiculously overpriced nail polishes.

Susan and whoever else was pushing the tanning cream must have sold most of what they had bought in - especially as we were never told exactly how many of them were left. I only saw the tops of a few in the box one of the lads was carrying off as they left the floor. If as someone has pointed out they initially bought 40 - it did look as though nearly all were gone

I know as well as everyone else that the programme is very subjectively edited to give us the impression of the candidates that the producers want. It was interesting that we were only shown Susan's failures - not her successes!

Zoe's people management skills were what were most lacking there!

No manager worth their salt would ever rip into a subordinate in public like that, nor would they have taken a "minder" with them. Helen's presence was totally unnecessaryThere was a private treatment area where the conversation could have taken place without the public or team mates seeing and hearing everything said. Added to which - IF Susan's sales were that bad, why deincentivise her even further by pointing it out in that place and in that way. In a real organisation - Susan would have a well founded grievance against Zoe as her manager for that behaviour

Its a game show - and there are villains and victims, and editing designed to disguise who is doing well and who is doing badly. Ellie's sister (and Edna) confirmed that Ellie played a big part in the app task which was never shown on screen.

I don't for one minute think that Zoe is the nasty bullying villainous bitch she is being portrayed as - she is as much a victim (of poor editing) as Susan is being portrayed in the same edits.

How do you know that for a fact?



Susan has been edited well. I think she is going far on that basis.

The only possible area of grievance Susan would have had was for the well deserved bollocking being in public. You forget Zoe is a PM in a real organisation. The rest of it was mild and Susan was insolent in return. Zoe was not some ogre, she had trusted Susan and felt let down by her. She was right to question Susan and when Susan was bleating that it was unfair she was right to have a go back at her.

It is the sort of thing that should blow over within 24 hours as people get on with the job. That is MY experience of what happens in real organisations.

Susan just wants to act like a child, like a dog with a bone, and harp on about it while Zoe and the rest have moved on and are trying to win the task.

Susan has alot to offer anyone, and as I have said elsewhere is a potential winner, but she needs to grow up and accept responsibility for her few failings.



That has been the way since the first episode of the first series.

Do you recall where that figure comes from?

They bought 40 units of the fake tan at £13 each. At 3 o'clock, when Zoe takes stock, Edna tells her she (Edna) has sold 5, and Susan has sold 3. I think there were 2 other people on sales: say 12 units altogether? If at the end of the day they only had £80 left, they must have sold at least 34 in total. We don't have all the figures, but it seems to me that they must have sold around 20 units after the pep talk. That's quite an increase. Maybe the pep talk worked?


Maybe the camera crew had something to do with it. There may have been a production reason why Helen couldn't be left on her own.


Again, there were probably production issues. Certainly they couldn't split in 3: some on sales, some in the treatment room, some giving the pep talk. There are only two camera crews. Obviously the pep talk needed to be filmed.

It seems pretty clear that Zoe didn't go down there with the intention of confronting Susan. She just wanted to find out from Edna how things were going. It was only when Edna told her that she realised there was a problem.

And what Zoe said doesn't seem that bad to me. She just reminds her of the history and says, "Try and recall it back, and try and get the sales." The problem is that she's hardly started talking before Susan starts saying, "This is so unfair". It's not unfair. Susan's inability to take criticism makes the conversation worse than it needed to be, because it meant Zoe had to push the point home harder.

That's not at all clear; we've no real idea of how much each sold as an individual. Edna had admittedly sold 5 to Susan's 3 at the time of Zoe's conversation with her, but that's pretty insignificant at those low levels. We were never given final totals for individuals.

Real organisations differ very much in their culture. My own experience has been that bollockings are rarely given at all, and never just for making a mistake, and never in public. I know other organisations do this very differently, though.

I take issue though with the idea that Susan "deserved" a bollocking. She had given her opinion, based on calculations of staff and hours available, of how much they could sell. She'd turned out to be mistaken, but if she'd tried to do her honest best, I don't see why she deserves a bollocking. It's a mistake, not laziness or moral turpitude.

I can't see why it would have. Susan was already trying hard to sell. The "pep talk" wouldn't have helped her acquire salesmanship skills.


It's certainly true she didn't come down to confront Susan, but she did so once she'd found out the situation. And in all honesty, I don't think it came over as being the "gentle touch" conversation you represent even from the start. I wasn't at all surprised that Susan became defensive, as it came across as ganging up to pin the blame on her.
