Looks like BBC1's chance of decent ratings for the Murray tennis final today will be scuppered by the weather. I assume it's about to be called off, as the EPG has now gone back to the original schedule now, with no tennis.

ITV's schedule gave Scott & Bailey a debut audience of 8m which they wouldn't have got if they started the following week. Better to give a leg-up to the more expensive drama than the less expensive LE show (which wouldn't have got much of a boost isolated at 7pm. If they had wanted to boost the cube surely it would be Corrie at 7 and The Cube at 7.30?)


This household had TTC on between 7.30 and 8.20 as a default cos there was nothing on the other side. That's why it did so well - nothing else to watch.

If you are happy with 4m and 3 and a bit million for the finale of your big talent show then I'd called that a pretty poor Christmas present.

Lets face it, the only winner yesterday was Trooping The Colour and maybe some m/c shows when we see those numbers.

But for ITV seeing as they are getting an older viewer on Sundays it makes sense to target the younger viewer on Saturdays even if the total adult numbers are lowish. I remember previous years where 2 hour repeats of Foyles War were getting close to 4m but tiny 16-34 numbers. Do we really want to go back to that?

Quoting a post from the last thread: Scott & Bailey had an official rating of 310k on ITV1+1. Must've been a BARB error that it didn't appear in the weekly top 10. So that first episode had: 9.11m (9.42m inc +1).

ITV back to non Cowell propped figures, was the same all last year when his shows were not airing, why are people surprised? It's not like they showed interesting or good programmes last night, or in fact EVER!!

Queen's Club took a gamble in moving the tennis final from 2.30pm to 12 noon to try and avoid a bad weather forecast for this afternoon. BBC1 had changed their schedule.
It hasn't worked, it's raining.

Queen's tournament director seems convinced there's a window of opportunity for the tennis final today - late afternoon. Could cause headaches for the Beeb later if it airs at the same time as the F1. Last thing they want - suspect they'd rather air it tomorrow lunchtime.

May also be some farcical ripping up of schedules today if it eases off for an hour this afternoon - then rains again, and so on.

Be a nice warm up anyway for Wimbledon for the annual ITVista (well, GeorgeS at least) "Murray on BBC1" ad nauseum postings...

The BBC must have the largest archive in the UK, so why do they insist on showing the same few shows all the time?

They always seem to go through phases as if they can't be bothered to go into the vaults more than once a year.

Only Fools and Horses went through a phase of being repeated every week for years, then it was Vicar of Dibley, now is there a Saturday night ever where an episode of either Comedy Roadshow, Live at the Apollo or John Bishop isn't shown?

Comedy Roadshow and Apollo (and probably JB's Britain) are independent productions so they BBC signs a contract with the company that allows them to show the programmes so many times during the duration of the contract. This will allow the BBC to get better value for the licence fee and the independent production company to get a bit more cash and pity the poor bloody viewer. (I think that's how it works.)

No we are entering the traditional summer dead zone where ITV show programmes that wouldn't get an airing at any other time of the year and the BBC rely on sport and repeats. However, traditionally it was always the BBC's ratings that sunk in the summer as they used to fill the schedule with cricket test matches and repeats and ITV tended to rally, usually with big budget imported mini series.

It beat your clapped out nag all day long yesterday, without ever once breaking out a sweat in ratings terms...

Yours might be at the glue factory by Christmas if Gary Barlow can't pull in the punters!


It's madness. It can't just be down to overpaid media execs assuming everyone has a full Sky subscription and will watch old stuff on digital channels like UKGold because most of the Apollo etc repeats on BBC1 have already been aired ad infinitum on BBC3, Dave etc.

They are hoping to cash in on his post BGT enhanced fame I'd guess. I'd expect Knight Rider to turn up again somewhere soon too.

Stand out for me was Camelot. A very solid rating of over 2m when BBC1 and ITV1 were having poor nights. I wonder if it will stabilise or fall of a cliff like many US imports have done.

Please can we make sure we use The Cube's correct title, its the "Bafta award-winning The Cube".
