Expect us to be on page 119 by 10pm
Well schedulers must prioritise a sport that 99% of the population only pretend to like for 2 weeks and would draw their curtains if it was played in their front garden for the other 50 weeks

It'll be like watching paint that's already dried!!
Yes, not my idea of Sunday night entertainment!

Thanks to Steve Williams for his TV nostalgia posts. I always find your comments very interesting.
So do I.

The EPG hasn't updated yet, even though Wimbledon 2011 has not started at 5:50pm like it was meant to!

The main problem with This Morning is that it is a tired format with poor production values.
I'm inclined to agree. A bit of tinkering from someone who knows what they're doing, and is unafraid to ruffle a few feathers or upset a few egos, could make the show a ratings success again. It wouldn't reach the heights of the 1990s, because BBC One has a better daytime line-up than it used to, but ratings would improve a lot.

It doesn't look to me as though this game is going to last too much longer, so delaying the Regional News looks the best option.

Very impressed with Luther's brilliant retention as opposed to the collapse of the first series. It's not often you see something rise from a Holby lead-in, but there's something about the promotional campaign and online fan base that has really lifted this one. I have to say, I was sceptical about bringing it back in the first place - I figured it was just to save face with a feted new drama and a prominent actor.
I felt the same way about the recommission, but the show has improved, from what I've seen. It feels quite sophisticated on many levels now, whereas last year's series had a touch of a 1980s video nasty about it, despite the gloss.

I think the problem with This Morning was it was seen as the Richard and Judy show for 11 years and it also became a cult show with people like Fred the Weatherman and Denise the agony aunt as well as featuring live appearances by the best musicians of the day and interesting guests. However, several personnel changes since 2001 and an overly trivial approach where most of the serious features have gone has seen ratings more than halve over the last 10 years.

Now this could be interesting. From Broadcast:

http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/m...medium=twitter
Barb to measure online viewing

Barb’s long-awaited meter of online viewing will be rolled out to just 100 homes initially, the ratings agency has confirmed.

The measurement system, which has been created following a year-long pilot, will go into the homes of existing Barb panel homes during the second half of this year.

By the end of 2012, the agency said it aimed to extend the meter to up to 1,100 homes, accounting for the television viewing on PCs, laptops and tablet devices of an estimated 2,500 people.

I reckon TM will probably only cost £ 3 million a year to make ...
It is probably quite cheap, but I expect it costs a lot more than £3m a year.

English regional news delayed until 10.25pm.

Welsh news on BBC Two Wales at 6.30pm, though. What is being shown on BBC Two in England?

I have to say, I was sceptical about bringing it back in the first place - I figured it was just to save face with a feted new drama and a prominent actor.

Hopefully it can come back for a proper run now as it appears it could become one of those 6m weekday series we've been saying BBC One are desperate for.
One thing I think that has also worked in Luthers favour is having it on just once a week. I personally find two parters and stripped drama very time consuming, and of late just don't bother with them. There aren't enough hours to commit to that much TV
A once a week show is a lot easier to commit to, but hey that's probably just me.

Luther really has been a success story. The first series was a bomb but this one has really caught on. I think that trailer was a masterstroke. It was simple but very effective and got people to tune in and people liked what they saw. This series has won a new audience and kept them each week which is impressive. As has been mentioned this series feels more sophisticated and once a week is helping it.

'Full length' bulletin at 10:25 according to the announcer on BBC TWO.

Interesting, as I would have thought regional news would have been a good filler to take them up to :00 or :30 if the tennis finishes inbetween,

Just to comment on Charnham's joke about This Morning and its viewers which I take in good heart but do dispute. So I wanted to defend the show a bit,

I watch the show (as a woman in her 50s and a full time carer) as its easy viewing when you have things to do around the house. As a magazine show that tells you whats on over the next 2 hours up front you can decide what you want to watch and fit the housework, feeding, etc around this. 50% of the show is not for me each day but there is always an interesting item or two. And its team of regular presenters/specialists are familiar, friendly faces which when you are tied to the house 90% of the time is actually nice to have on in the background.

I suspect the majority of those watching are in a similar position - women at home for one reason or another who do not want anything that taxes the attention too much.

I guess most people on this thread are men and so find it hard to appreciate why that kind of programming has its place at that time of day.

Oh, and I say this not just from my personal experience now but from a guest on the show several times in the Richard and Judy days when I was on the other side of the fence as an active writer and it was always viewed by my publishers as THE show to get on.

If it's the full 30 minute bulletin, could Not Going Out be delayed by a week tonight so they could fit in the Lottery draw and start Gone Baby Gone a bit later than usual?

Or will NGO and Gone Baby Gone get pushed back to later times?

As I've written before they'll probably just drop Not Going Out for a week.
