Coast must be a schedulers dream!

I was sort of hoping for Dads Army myself.

No BBC Look North at 6.30pm, yet more reason to see why ITV is hammering the BBC with regional coverage in the North East.

It's a shame really considering the lunchtime news promised a full update of the services disrupted tomorrow by the strike. 10.25pm might be pushing it for the older and (indeed some younger viewers)

Though I can understand the BBC's wish to chase ratings

As I've written before they'll probably just drop Not Going Out for a week.
Just seems silly to me. Are they going to have the 6:30 newscasters wait around for 4 hours because they won't move The One Show or rest In With The Flynns for a week?

As long as this match is over by 7:30pm, which it almost certainly will, Waterloo Road and 9pm onwards needn't be affected, minus a potential half hour delay for the former.

For those that missed it - in our region we've just had a caption stating 'BBC Oxford News will follow at 7.00'. Did other regions get anything?

It's just occured to me that the episode of My Family postponed from last Friday and Sunday could be postponed twice more this week, if the BBC ask for Murray to be second on court on Friday, and if the Men's final overruns on Sunday.

Would four postponements in ten days be a record for a single episode of a series?

It'd be the only useful thing Andy Murray will have ever contributed to British society

Did Scotland ever air last week's edition of Holby City by the way?

Even if it only affects Friday they'll still take the Sunday repeat off like they did last week.

I wonder how Scotland, Wales (and Northern Ireland?) will fill 7.00-7.05pm on BBC1?

We've now got the situation where The One Show is seen as a higher priority than the regional news, which could have been shown in full at 7pm.

The Regional News is 20 mins at 10:25, Lottery follows at 10:45 apparantly.

We seem to have stopped talking about ratings again! So what do people think Wimbledon will get this evening. My guess is 5.5m with a peak near to 6m for 18:00 to 19:00

I watch the show (as a woman in her 50s and a full time carer) as its easy viewing when you have things to do around the house. As a magazine show that tells you whats on over the next 2 hours up front you can decide what you want to watch and fit the housework, feeding, etc around this. 50% of the show is not for me each day but there is always an interesting item or two. And its team of regular presenters/specialists are familiar, friendly faces which when you are tied to the house 90% of the time is actually nice to have on in the background.

I guess most people on this thread are men and so find it hard to appreciate why that kind of programming has its place at that time of day.
gender based comments aside, I could get all you mentioned from The Wright Stuff, and now TWS: Extra, its an ideal show to have in the background, and despite the celebrity panel, it can tackle the days news well.

Yup I'm in Oxfordshire and had the BBC Oxford News will follow at 7pm a few minutes ago. Seeing as BBC Oxford News is only 10 minutes long normally (then joins South Today) then perhaps they will cut into the One Show half way through.

New Tricks could be on air for at least another couple of years:
The show has run for eight years and talks have begun over a new, two-year deal.

A most surprising move, in these situations I dont see why the newshour doesnt simply move from 6 to 7, but I guess the whole wales studio having 2 uses causes problems...

I'm slightly surprised they ditched the regional news 6.30 slot - but glad they had some balls and went with it, cue Daily Mail article on the outrage this has caused (or not...)

Slightly wading back into this debate, This Morning is the same now as it was in the Richard & Judy days. Its an urban myth that the format has changed. You just need to look at clips on youtube to see that.

One other obvious issue is being overlooked too. Pre-Holly Willoughby, the ratings were about 900,000. When Holly joined, they went up and fluctuated from 1.1m-1.5m (bigger rise amongst males, surprise). Holly has temporarily left and the ratings have gone back down, and paired with the good weather they're a little lower than they have been in previous years. If the figures are still like that in a few months then its an issue, but until then it doesn't need 15 pages a day. Can't wait for when Eamonn & Ruth take over in the summer and the ratings drop a bit further, there will be some rivetting discussion in this thread ...

I'm going for 6 million for Murray. If the match was rumbling on into peak time, 7 million could be a feasible figure and very respectable.

yeah, i think 6 million is the top end for this match. it ended before 6pm and there was never really any doubt about the outcome. At least in my opinion lol

The production standards and the overall tone of the show has gone very much downhill over the past couple of years, anybody can see that.
