It'd be quite time-consuming for me to get all those demo figures at the moment. If I have time another day, I'll try to post them here - I suspect EE would have a broad age range, Corrie being older-skewing and Hollyoaks being young-skewing.

It depends on when PJMillar is around to report the ratings for DS. Could be later today or even tomorrow. Unlikely we'll get the CBBC ratings in any case though.

The News ratings are from Monday 13th June and Tuesday 14th June - I figured those would be "normal" days, and didn't want to do the following two weeks due to Wimbledon affecting things. And the morning data is from Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June.”

Interesting that the BBC News skews notably more evenly between male/female than ITV News does. Not many under 34's interested in either channel's TV news either; though I guess ITV don't really show adverts during the News slots so it doesn't really matter apart from as a lead-in to other shows.

Alex Polizzi is leaving The Hotel Inspector:
Quote:
“The Hotel Inspector's Alex Polizzi has been poached by the BBC to present a series about failing family businesses.

Alex, who comes from a long line of hoteliers including her grandfather Lord Forte and uncle Sir Rocco Forte, has signed a contract with BBC2 for the six-part Alex Polizzi: Business In The Blood.

The series will see her visiting a different firm each week to troubleshoot problems varying from warring couples, to parents desperate to hand the reins of a family business to their uninterested children.
...
The Hotel Inspector's previous host, Ruth Watson, defected from Channel Five to Channel Four in 2008.

A new host for The Hotel Inspector has not been announced.”

Channel 5 aren't having much luck with that Hotel Inspector programme's hosts.

I wonder if John Harvey Jones expected BBC Two to still be rehashing his Troubleshooter series over twenty years on.

Not confirmed, but one or two people in the Doc Martin thread saying that it will return on Monday 12th September at 9pm.

This would not only tie in with Red or Black? being on the week before but also means that it looks like Downton Abbey is going to get the post X Factor slot again.

Furthermore, if the above is true, it looks like we may have a stripped drama on from Monday 7th November to Friday 11th November, which I am certain will be The Jury, as that is 5 parts long and is set to transmit this year. Obviously this is some months ahead, but for anyone interested on what the scheduling appears to look like in the Winter months, there you are.

I'd stick Doc Martin on Friday to try and hold the night up a bit in the post watershed slot. Still, I guess it'll do better on Monday then it would on Friday.

You'll be shocked to learn () that I think the BBC were very wrong not to stick to schedule and instead force the regional news across the schedule - but I am very interested to see how the local programming performs up against Coronation Street.

I've been wondering if, when The One Show claps out (I realise I'm leaving an open goal for GeorgeS here. ), it might be cost effective for BBC One to use the whole of BBC News Channel's 6pm news hour, and follow it with Regional News on BBC One at 7pm?

They'd have to reformat the main news - possibly they could include a Panorama-like feature within in with an indepth investigative report every night and then a debate afterwards to take up a good quarter of an hour. The Regional News would more that hold up against Emmerdale IMO; it'd probably rate better than The One Show.

But the 6pm format is a winning one for the BBC as it is and The One Show doesn't disgrace itself at 7pm so will they look to change it?

I was just thinking of the future if people stop watching The One Show.

I hope The One Show will continue to be broadcast for many years to come. I'd hate think what dumbed down, cheaper replacement could be found for it

Sorry, I've re-read your post now. I think The One Show is the This Morning of primetime...it's going to have a lot of mileage because it's a light hearted magazine programme. As long as nature is around and celebrities want to flog their latest book/film/TV show then there will be a point to the programme and the viewers will continue to tune in.

I suppose. I don't think we'll ever go back to having different programmes every weeknight at 7pm.

I want ratings!

Out of the terrestrial channels, only BBC2 has any variety at 7pm (when there's no cricket to air). I wish there was more variety, but I think Channel 4 and Channel 5 just burn off their PSB requirements as they have little hope of beating ITV1 (or BBC1), ITV1 don't want to change a winning formula and BBC1 don't want to risk something else at 7pm now The One Show is working for them.

When people stop watching The One Show they'll just air a new magazine show in its place. ITV have the monopoly on the 7pm slot, it isn't worth them doing anything else because its more expensive and gets lower ratings.

They should move the One Show to 5.30 and put Doctors on at 7pm, i doubt it would do any worse than what The One Show is and is only going to get higher ratings and dent Emmerdale.

BBC1 will be on a hiding for nothing if they set Doctors up against an established soap on a commercial channel. ITV1 had criticism for clashing Emmerdale with EastEnders for 30 minutes a week in a revamp and that was only once a week.

Old news, must be a slow news day at The Telegraph. It's been common knowledge for ages that the next series, due to be broadcast later this year, would be her last. So she hasn't really been "poached" by the BBC as the article says, although at least that detail is new.

She'll be tough to replace because she's do damn watchable but the programme has reinvented itself before and I'm sure it will do so successfully again.

Agree completely.

Anyway The ..... Inspector is a brand of its own now. They could decide to rest The Hotel Inspector for a while and stick with The Restaurant Inspector.

Or re-cast The Business Inspector or even start a fourth strand (The Leisure Inspector, The Farm Inspector etc etc)

That is true. I think there's a lot of mileage in the brand as well, it's a very popular genre. Talking of which, I noticed The Restaurant Inspector is Pick of the Day for Monday in the Daily Mirror's TV magazine for next week. Cowboy Builders was also recommended. The Sun's Buzz ignored everything on Channel 5 as usual.

another live Millionaire taking the place of Paul O'Grady. Still sticking with the 75 minute slot

I assume Paul O'Grady will have finished his run by then? Don't get the 75 minute slot though - if they want to air it for more than 60 minutes why not sandwich part one around Coronation Street then the rest at 9pm? Or do a two parter over Friday and Saturday?

Yes Paul O'Grady final show is July 8th, they can't really split a show like WWTBAM, maybe the reasons for the 75 minute show are - more ad revenue and more opportunity to raise charity cash, I have seen previous shows and the celebs are on a good run - time runs out, quite a let down for viewers.

Odd to have a father and son type show - nowhere close to Father's Day. Based on the run time, I think we can assume one or both celebrities answers a lot of questions correctly.

Agreed (sort of)
Doctors is a brilliant soap but moving it out of daytime and against one of the big soaps is stupid.
Doctors VS Emmerdale is very different to EastEnders VS Emmerdale though.

I think Doctors could go in the 5:30pm slot BBC1 or even 6:30pm BBC2

If the BBC wanted to i guess they could move the news to 5:30pm and have Doctors air at 6:30pm and should rate well after the news and a good lead in to The one show.
It could even put Hollyoaks out of it's misery
