Looks like a horrible Sunday for Channel 5, down 1 whole share point on last week and almost less popular than Sky1's Simpsons fest among 16 to 34 year olds (3.6% v 3.5%).

Transformers had 2.6m including +1 for Channel 4. The network once again thrashed ITV1 in the 16-34 shares with 11.3% to ITV1's dire 4.3%.

Apart from the F1, that is...

ITV1's all-day share on Saturday by the way was 9.4% according to C4 Sales, so not quite its lowest.

Yikes, that's a poor rating for Top Gear. I know it was against Transformers, but 4.6m for it in its own right is unimpressive.

Operastar's results got a benefit from BBC1 having a 90 minute drama on, but I hope its axed, really.

Top Gear's been getting mixed reviews on DS for recent episodes, with some rating it poorly. Clarkson is getting constant negative press, some of it self-inflicted. Perhaps these are potential reasons for its dwindling popularity.

Concerning though for BBC Two that its biggest show appears to be losing momentum. The Countryfile clash might not be helping.

Scott & Bailey ended well with about 6m inc. +1. It's been a good show actually. Does anyone know the series average excluding/including +1? Thanks.

Last week Top Gear beat Countryfile in the ratings (5.14m to 4.74m). This week Countryfile gained almost a million viewers and nearly 3% share. Top Gear lost nearly 3% share so I really don't think the clash is helping but it'll gain more over the week in catch-up and iPlayer.

Personally - I watch Countryfile, record Top Gear.

We'll see how Top Gear do over the next 2-3 weeks when they're up against Countryfile clipshows rather than new episodes. If they still suffer then, they may have a problem.

It may be that this doen't include the BBC HD channel simulcast. Although if it does include the simulcast then it does seem a bit low by Top Gear standards.

It does. Without HD it had 3.88m / 16.7% share.

29/05 - 7.92m (31.7%) ; 262k = 8.18m
05/06 - 6.14m (23.6%) ; 314k = 6.45m
12/06 - 5.19m (19.6%) ; 243k = 5.43m
19/06 - 5.05m (20.0%) ; 355k = 5.41m
26/06 - 5.46m (23.8%) ; 257k = 5.72m
03/07 - 5.77m (23.8%) ; 183k = 5.95m

That's an average of 5.92m (23.75%) or 6.16m when including +1.

Will be recommissioned, definitely.

It includes HD, without HD the number was 3.88m (16.7%) which looks worryingly low.

Oh yes. That was lazy of me, should of read the DS article myself

Just had a quick look back at last year's Top Gear overnights for the summer series all including HD here:

4.67m [inc HD but HD not simulcast]
5.3m (20.9%)
3.49m [inc HD but HD not simulcast]
6.13m (25.2%)
6.44m (24.6%)
4.84m [inc HD but HD not simulcast]

The first half was during the World Cup but it goes to show it can fluctuate quite a bit. Last night's episode rated poorly given the competition, but not alarming in my opinion unless the trend continues.

Yep, Sky & Virgin not exactly quaking in their boots at this news!

Looking on BARB its highest rated programmes currently get around 40k.

As noted earlier, I'm not at all sure if Penn and Teller's figure is correct, so I've ignored that.

There is the ultimate humiliation. ITV1's new entertainment show being beaten by a 7 month repeat of a HIGNFY episode.

No changes to the two Top 20's, previous chart can be found here: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=2223

Not sure about whether to keep the 'Alternative Chart' because for BBC2 it seems to consist of 'anything that has moved from BBC1' - or it will do after Wimbledon's two weeks anyway.

This is what happens when you axe all your biggest shows replacing them with tat, and spread your content too thinly across 5 Channels.

Stunning ratings for the tennis final on a baking hot Sunday! What on earth were people doing inside watching the telly with no Brit in the final?

No need to panic over TG. It will timeshift ok I'm sure.

They mentioned on This Morning today (somewhere after Phil chairing the USA side (?) in a US v UK Independence Day quiz!) that their 'last show of the series' is a week on Friday (July 15).

Not sure if that is a sign of the pressure on the ratings but they have not been going off air for the summer recently and have run it right through with Eammon and Ruth hosting.

I assume they will fill the gap with repeats of reality shows. Or are they putting the new show presented by Melanie Sykes and Gino Di Campo in that slot (or Loose Women's) or later in the afternoon? Did they setttle on calling it Gino and Mel? Or Mel and Gino? Or just The Egos have landed?

nice rating for Casualty, as for ITV, well do you really need me to say anything on that matter?

As for the C4 wather graphic, its differnt, will see how it looks on TV before I pass judgement.
