I had forgetten about that, not sure tis right to use a celebrity, it will only increase the odds the show will attract the wrong type of girl, im sure he wont find love, but yeah I guess coloum inches are possible.
TBH I think you have to be a certain type of girl, to go on The Bachelor whether its a celebrity version or not

Two figures stand out- huge result for MasterChef, where did that come from all of a sudden?! And that is Home and Away's best this year I think.

true and I realise that, hence why I said "increase the chances"

I dont think you can trust a show when it does a celeb specail.

Well, the teams are unlikely to agree to a new deal with Bernie (or whoever he sells to) without a commitment to FTA rights, as they all want F1 to get the biggest possible audience. So I can't see Sky getting the rights.

And we know how much "intense interest" ITV had in F1 - they handed the rights back early, and couldn't wait to get the coverage off air in time for Coro St. They would have gone off air last night at 8pm in time for Operastar - with mere highlights at 10.15pm.

Given the amount of sports rights we are led to believe ITV is going to acquire - exclusive Euro2012 coverage, Six Nations etc - you have to wonder where all the cash has come from recently. Not all from Cowell shows, surely?

Perhaps a windfall tax is due on ITV profits?
ITV want to buy lots of sports rights? When did they make that decision?

Looking at the shares I'm surprised Seven won the night when Ten had nearly 2m across 90 minutes and Seven had flop import No Ordinary Family.

Must have been close, or Ten had a really bad night either side of MC.

Would the public hoilday making ratings higher or lower?

I think it was mentioned in one or two articles around the time Five was doing the deal over BB.

It came out of the blue alright. Do you know when the new series of The Block begins, the hype seems to be building Down Under for it.

Rankings are done by A25-54. Primetime (the bold averages) applies only to the 8pm-11pm period.

HLN was boosted by coverage of the Casey Anthony trial - apparently the most watched since OJ Simpson. They won Friday overall among adults 25-54 and were only slightly behind FOX News in that demo in primetime.

Every primetime show on the other 3 networks peaked on Monday following the Anthony Weiner twitter scandal but quickly returned to normal levels. The exception was Piers Morgan Tonight which performed in line with average on Monday.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but Five's version of The Bachelor will star Gavin Henson.
That should get it some column inches.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-13753762
Could this be placed in such a way that Big Brother is used to boost it?

Thanks for the info. Definitely something that will get talked about I think.

Monday at 7 on 9. They have quite a "clean" schedule that night as well with The Block at 7pm, The Big Bang Theory x 2 (including the last episode of the current season) at 8pm, Rescue Special Ops at 9pm and Rescue Special Ops again at 10pm. It should do well on a night where Seven clearly has one or two weak spots.

Thanks for that, It's going to be interesting to see how it performs especially against MasterChef as I expect the may have a similar audience. Nine really need some good news.

A bit late arriving at the party, but have to say what a superb set of ratings those are for the F1. Like the race itself, worth waiting for. It's not so much the BBC 2 coverage that surprised me - the barnstorming climax definitely justified it - but just how many people were happy to sit around from 7-9 watching puddles develop! I suppose the novelty factor played some part, but people were still there well into the 8pm hour by the looks of it.

As a result, James May didn't get the kind of boost I thought he might. I did wonder whether that one wouldn't be topping 3m. ITV's night was reasonable, but the BGT promotion and new slot for PSTOS doesn't seem to have helped it grow at all. If it doesn't find some momentum, it could become a bit of a drag during its run.

Wow, great HD rating for it as well. Must be BBC HD's most watched programme in a long long time.
740,000 viewers found BBC HD - surely that is some record.
Outside of the 2010 World Cup, that is BBC HD's highest ever overnight rating.

01 - F1 - 0.74m (June 2011)
02 - Top Gear - 0.65m (Jan 2011)
03 - Doctor Who - 0.54m (June 2010)

The World Cup Final and England v Germany scored 1.4m and 1.6m respectively.

Yeah that result is absolutely gobsmacking. Does anyone know if this is the largest digital channel audience ever in Australia, as I'm sure I remember reading it was in the 0.4s?

Has the 740,000 for the F1 been confirmed for BBC HD? And if possible, would love to see the BBC1/BBC2/ITV1 primetime breakdown until 10:30pm for Sunday.

(edit, also if the BBC2 only 15-minute peak was 6.5m, then including HD it would be about 7.5m maybe and towards 8m for a 5-minute peak! I'm left wondering what it would have got on BBC1....)

BBC ONE
1700 average 6.3m peaked 8.5m / 28.5% average
2015 average 5.9m peaked 7.4m / 23.0% average

BBC TWO
2100-2200 average 5.1m peaked 5.6m / 19.6% average
2200-2230 average 5.2m peaked 6.5m / 23.0%
Looking at the 2200 to 2230 average and applying the BBC HD viewers for that timeslot http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...-grabs-5m.html :

5.2m (23.0%) + 0.851 (3.6%) = 6.06m (26.6%) for 22:00 to 22:30 only
* peak: 7.36m approx

Don't forget that HD would be lower for that half an hour than the previous hour because the race finished at 22:10. So it may turn out that BBC2's rating was nearly equal with BBC1 once BBC HD is factored in!

It looks like also that everyone that switched over chose to except the BBC2 figures initially look a lot lower because BBC HD isn't bundled in automatically with BBC2 annoyingly.

It's a record for BBC HD since it's become BBC HD without BBC1 simulcast programmes last November.

BBC One HD, which took its EPG slot has had higher figures, but unfortunately even though it's stand alone channel it's not reported separately.

The Royal Wedding holds the record of 'watching BBC in HD' and of course last night's F1 coverage on BBC One HD would have had considerably more than 740k.

As we know from forums and Twitter, many think BBC One HD replaced BBC HD and not added as an additional channel. So many switched from BBC One HD to BBC Two SD without knowing another HD channel existed.

I take it Family Guy new episodes were axed as the BBC HD recording just vanished and set up to next week (but not with these episodes scheduled). If they appeared in SD on BBC 3 then why did BBC HD not just show them later or on another day instead of the millionth repeat of something else.

It hasn't yet been rescheduled for TV broadcast, and Friday's showing has been replaced by an older episode of the programme.
When the BBC buy in US shows they pay per showing. If a programme is simulcast in HD it counts as one showing.

If the HD version is shown at a different time, they need to pay again!!

HD fans will need to wait until Sunday's episode is scheduled again on BBC3 and hope that a simulcast slot is available.
