Thanks for this rzt, have been keeping eyes peeled for these figures, great result.

Wow, super stuff there for the Golf. Bodes well for The Open next month on BBC with publicity.

Solid for Wimbledon on BBC2, enough to dent BBC1 and ITV1, albeit not massively audience wise, only share wise it seems.

Not sure whether 4m overnights is enough to seal Case Histories recommission, the officials have been good but not spectacular. Nip and tuck there I think.

Not just the peak, but the average over six hours is stunning. With about 75% of the ads for golf related products, it's a great result for niche advertising.

A more detailed breakdown on the tennis would be useful. If it averaged 3.6m from 5.50-9pm, then it must have done very well as the Murray match came to a conclusion - although only Panorama seems to have been properly dented by it, surprisingly.

Although perhaps EE and CS would have done better than they did without the tennis, particularly as the weather was foul.

I think Case Histories might be saved by its decent timeshifting - c1m - and the fact that BBC1 has a dwindling supply of bankable drama. When you consider that it has aired in the summer (if we can still call the period from June-September that....), and was stymied by the F1 clash for its second outing, I don't think it's done that badly to stabilise at 4m and 4.9-5m in the officials.

Lakeview Terrace could have done better in another slot. Looks like the late finish hurt it because the share is quite good. Cleaner, also part of the Samuel L Jackson season, did better last week.

Excellent for NCIS on 5USA. This Monday night showing of the programme is drawing huge audiences week after week, one of the great untold stories of multichannel. That looks like its highest since at least late May, and just enough to beat the much publicised Game of Thrones finale- impressive stuff.

Shurely shome mishtake re the first one? The peak can't be lower than the average? Presumably the peak must have been in the 5pm hour, not 3pm in the afternoon??

Brilliant BBC2 figures later on. No wonder Panorama sunk to 2.1m if 5.3m were watching BBC2/HD.

I think this does demonstrate that viewers will find the tennis on BBC2 (like they did the F1), but then you could also say that BBC1 might have had 8m for it...

Last year's final day, when Graeme McDowell became the first Brit to win the US Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970, averaged 241k!! And it was on the more popular SS1 and a lot more exciting as is was a close finish and not a foregone conclusion.

Mistake there. I think the Nadal match itself (which was transferred to BBC1 from BBC2 according to Broadcast) peaked with 1.74m (25.68%). So it wasn't the actual peak of the BBC1 coverage but of the Nadal match itself, I think.

Yes, this week's repeat is season two shown last October. The first season, 2009, was on ITV3 last week.

Case Histories was 4.0m so I was close and other ratings were as expected - I just meant that the 5 shows were very different and would rate better than recent timeslots. (I didn't watch Case Histories at 9pm myself as I was online, will watch today on HD catch up.) Will have to catch up on Restaurant Inspector also.

New Alexander Armstrong vehicle for Saturday nights on BBC1.

Quote:
“Alexander Armstrong is to host a new Saturday night series for BBC1 in which contestants are challenged to perform to win a prize.

Epic Win will feature contenders from the man who can read hundreds of barcodes to a man who can identify species of fish by having them slapped around his face.

Each week these individuals will perform in front of a studio audience and a panel fronted by comedians Micky Flanagan and Joe Lycett, and a special guest on rotation.

After a challenge has been performed, the panellist will place a cash value on the skill, and the contestant has to guess how much they have been valued at.

If they guess correctly, they win the full amount, and if they underestimate their worth, they receive the amount they stated. However, if they over-estimate, the contestant walks away with nothing, exiting through the “epic fail” door.

Epic Win is a BBC Entertainment production for BBC1. It was commissioned by channel controller Danny Cohen and devised by Andy Brereton. The BBC executive producer is Antonia Hurford-Jones.

The series will transmit later this summer.”

Hmm. I haven't seen Alexander Armstrong on anything bad, but the description of that show isn't grabbing me. Do I really care about the guy who can read barcodes? Not really.

These kind of formats are being done to death on TV at the moment.

Will the press adopt Rory just like they did with Andy Murray? Moore than reasonable for Wimbledon, nice to have tennis on BBC2 without interruption.
Do recommisioners rely on overnights or BARB ratings? Jason Issacs on Loose Women said he would only return if his new US show is cancelled, which could happen after one episode he said. 6m in officials is very good in 2011, it doesn't seem that expensive to make - unless the cast are on big pay deals.

Not surprising that 90% of my viewing is 'other channels'.

P.S. With four solid nights of golf, my planner is filling up. Hopefully Castle will get watched tonight!!

Thanks rzt.

As you say, brilliant rating. Differential between Sat and Sun seems far wider than would have expected.

Guess it's the old story - casual viewers getting attracted by a big story. Obviously SS usually has few casual viewers but it can get some - eg people who have SS for football etc but would never, ever normally watch golf - until they did on Sunday night.

I also wonder - could this rating be pure gold dust for Sky in their negotiations with the Augusta Committee for the Masters? Obviously they can't anywhere near match BBC audience but they can say look we can get pretty decent figures.

I don't suppose the fact Panorama was on a dull foreign story helped either, it's a programme that will always fluctuate wildly depending on the subject.
