Believe it or not, the #1 cable network among adults 18-49 last week was the History channel. A raft of unscripted fare aimed at males aged 18-49 has fuelled ratings for the channel in recent years. The most notable success has been Pawn Stars. Last Monday, 2 episodes pulled 2.5 and 2.7 ratings and more than 7m viewers. Not only did this top cable on both measures but the 2.7 wasn't beaten by any network other than NBC (The Voice, AGT, Stanley Cup).
HISTORY (2.38m/1.07m):
Pawn Stars - 7.49m (2.7)
Pawn Stars - 7.29m (2.5)
American Pickers - 5.65m (1.8)
Swamp People - 4.57m (1.7)
Ice Road Truckers - 2.75m (1.1)
Mounted in Alaska - 2.56m (1.1)
Hardcore History - 2.16m (0.9)

Mounted In Alaska - 1.76m (0.7)
Time Machine - 1.87m (0.6)
How The States Got Shapes - 1.58m (0.5)
USA Network still came out tops in total viewers (2.85m) and a close second in 18-49 (1.02m). The Tuesday drama block is rating slightly lower but they do have the return of Burn Notice and new series, Suits, this week. So they'll be back on top.
USA (2.85m/1.02m):
WWE Raw - 4.83m (1.7)
WWE Tough Enough - 3.83m (1.4)
White Collar - 3.71m (1.1)
Covert Affairs - 3.92m (1.1)
In Plain Sight - 3.28m (0.9)
Law & Order: Criminal Intent - 3.27m (0.9)
TNT will be pleased with the start for Falling Skies, the most watched scripted hour last week. Like USA, their big hitters aren't yet back. The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles were the 2 most watched summer dramas last year. Ray Romano's Men of a Certain Age is struggling in its 10pm Wednesday slot.
TNT (2.36m/0.97m):
Falling Skies - 5.91m (2.0)
Sprint Cup Racing - 4.89m (1.4)
Franklin & Bash - 2.88m (0.9)
FILM: The Dark Knight - 1.83m (0.8)
Falling Skies (R) - 2.28m (0.7)
Memphis Beat - 3.02m (0.7)
Hawthorne - 2.58m (0.7)
Men of a Certain Age - 1.44m (0.4)
ABC Family is making a big push this year, with several new hours of scripted shows coming in over the summer and fall as they look to build on The Secret Life and Pretty Little Liars. Of the 2 new shows, Switched At Birth (following The Secret Life) is looking good while Nine Lives of Chloe King premiered rather soft (following Pretty Little Liars).
ABC Family (1.49m/0.71m):
Secret Life of the American Teenager - 3.07m (1.4)
Switched At Birth - 2.92m (1.2)
Pretty Little Liars - 3.68m (1.3)
Nine Lives of Chloe King - 2.17m (0.7)
In total viewers, Disney Channel placed 2nd (and actually managed 10th in 18-49 as well, not that it matters). They had 5 entries in the top 20 most watched shows of the week. Though nothing topped the 7.32m for Nickelodeon's iCarly/Victorious crossover the previous week.
DISNEY (2.70m/0.58m):
So Random - 3.88m (0.7)
Good Luck Charlie - 4.13m (0.8)
A.N.T Farm - 4.33m (0.7)
Shake It Up - 4.11m (0.6)
Wizards of Waverly Place - 4.05m (0.6)
FILM: Enchanted - 2.73m (0.5)
Elsewhere,
Game of Thrones reached its climax with a series high audience 37% higher than the premiere. The first run had 3.04m (1.4) and a combined total of 3.9m when the later repeat was included. Also on premium cable,
Nurse Jackie rounded out its season with 830,000 (0.3) while
United States of Tara finished up for good with just 380,000 (0.1).
Other scripted on basic cable included AMC's
The Killing, which pulled 2.32m (0.7), A&E's
The Glades with 2.39m (0.6), MTV's
Teen Wolf on 1.80m (0.7), Syfy's
Sanctuary which had 1.28m (0.4) and Lifetime's
Drop Dead Diva returned with 2.86m (1.0).
Top unscripted shows other than those already mentioned included
Deadliest Catch with 3.86m (1.7),
Tosh.0 with 2.68m (1.4),
Keeping Up With The Kardashians with 2.75m (1.5) and
Real Housewives of New Jersey with 2.53m (1.3).
My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings has hit the US. It's not a huge hit for TLC but it's still doing alright with 1.70m (0.7).
2 other wrestling ratings:
SYFY - WWE Smackdown - 2.71m (0.7)
SPIKE - TNA Impact - 1.77m (0.6)
I include those because I'm quite surprised at how close they are - and just how far Smackdown is behind the USA shows. Even the reality spin-off is doing double the numbers in A18-49.
