People will get over it.

EastEnders is on 52 weeks of the year. But woe betide if one episode is moved to accommodate a once a year tennis tournament.

Just wait for Euro 2012 followed by Wimbledon and the Olympics next year.

Though the thing is the tennis had already been accommodated on BBC2.

I moved to BBC2 as i thought that was an obvious option.
I recorded BBC1 and BBC2 at 8:00pm just in case as i had to record it for someone else.
MY EPG still had EastEnders at 8 on BBC1 and Wimbledon BBC2

The trouble with the five episode week is where would the fifth episode go? 8.30pm Wednesday would take an ailing comedy off the air which needs all the support it can get. They'd be vilified to glory if they clash it with Coronation Street. Airing an hour long on a Tuesday would mean Holby or Luther would have to be bumped.”

A number of options.

EastEnders Monday 9:00pm
Tuesday at 8:00pm,Holby Wednesday at 8:30pm after Waterloo road

EastEnders 7:30 pm Weds and Waterloo road at 8:00pm

Anyone that tuned in from 7.55pm onwards (at least) would have seen clearly on the EPG that EastEnders was airing on BBC2 and would have heard Sue Barker at 8.00pm, 8.04pm and 8.09pm announce clearly that EastEnders was airing on BBC2 and BBCHD.

When Funded by the Public they should be able to watch both.
EastEnders shouldn't have gone out on BBC2 at 8.
I don't see the problem with the BBC showing it later then usual

What'd happen to part 2 of 2 of Silent Witness?

Supposing In with the Flynns would move to 9.30pm to fill the half hour after Holby City, where would The Apprentice go?And why would they move The Apprentice considering it's their highest non-soap show of the week?

Where would they move In with the Flynns? It saw a dip this week; the last thing it needs is to be shoved around the schedule.

The only silly thing was EastEnders scheduled at 2058, but i guess that was to keep a recording option available. BBC2's EPG updated at 1958 for me as did the HD options

and why **** about move Mondays 9pm programing, moving Holby, The Wednesday comedy, the Apprentice just because you dont like EE airing on BBC2?

My EPG was showing EastEnders as normal on BBC1.

I think the BBC should make this clear from the start though and not 5 mins before.

It affects people's recordings for one and in this day and age they can't inform people that EastEnders and the rest of BBC1 programes will air on BBC2 till at least 9:00pm.

If the tennis was to finish early (in the middle of Enders say) then they could have a news update or something till 8:30

I think there's a real chance it could dip below 2m tomorrow, especially since it clashes directly with the king of Saturday nights Casualty. Rarely do AIs as low as that point towards strong retention and it wasn't much above 2m last week! I know it's only summer, but I do wonder if ITV will be forced to act on this one. Whatever way you look at it, it's a monumental turkey not worthy of a 9pm timeslot on a leading commercial network.

At least ITV have got Penn and Teller, a show that viewers do seem to be enjoying. But an okay/good performance from that won't counter the harm done if The Marriage Ref falls to a disastrous level.

I understand what you're saying but I think people make a fair point - BBC1 is the premier channel and it's quite right it should be the home of big events like these.

Soaps dominate the primetime schedule for most of the year - occasions like this are relatively rare in comparison - and in a world of iPlayer and catch up television I just don't think it's the issue it may have been even 5 years ago.

It astounds me how people get so worked up about slight scheduling changes.

Tennis match involving Britian's number one in the top world competition takes greater precedence over bog standard episodes of The One Show and Eastenders.

To be fair they should've known by at least 7.30 that the match was going to go past 8pm and made sure they'd updated the EPGs then. I switched onto BBC2 just before 8pm because I didn't have a clue what was happening as my EPG hadn't updated. And when it had updated EastEnders had somehow managed to find an extra half hour from somewhere.

How early do you want a warning then? Its live TV decisions are made on the spot.

No loss. They could have a double episode next week as Miranda is only repeats. So that can easily be made up.

Because it disrupts the rest of the schedule which is unnecessary - especially when the tennis could run until gone 10 o'clock - too late to air EastEnders which then has a knock on effect when it has to be rescheduled later in the week.

The publicly funded BBC gives you every opportunity to watch - BBC Two at its normal time (how hard is to scan an EPG in this day and age?), BBC Three, iPlayer, Sunday afternoon...

for what its worth it might have been a pain for poeple who tuned in at the last minute, not really knowing there was reason they might have to tune in early to check the EPG. People are very used EE being on at those times, and saying that EE is not on BBC 1, will get you locked up in an insane asylum.
