It's likely that Scott & Bailey will be transferred to Mondays for its next series because Sundays next year looks full on ITV1: DOI/WAH in Jan-March, Lewis/Vera/Titanic in April/May, Euro 2012 in June, not gonna put it in July/Aug partly against Olympics, Downton/IAC in September-Dec. With a fast turnaround, they could get it on air in Spring next year, but that would mean filming from this October/November- could scripts written by one person be ready by then? Otherwise, it'd probably have to air on Mondays in Autumn 2012.


This is why the BBC repeats New Tricks so often. In terms of one-hour dramas, pretty much only New Tricks repeats well. Even a third showing of a NT episode would've rated at least half a million better than what SW had last night. George Gently repeats well too, which is 1.5 hours in duration, I suppose they could've aired that last night - I can't remember if they've repeated it this year at all.

It timeshifted less than 350,000 its not that impressive.

Im sure there have been shows that had 1,000 in the overnights then timeshifted to 10,000, ie. 1000% uplifts.

Doctor Who's opening episode this season was the most time shifted programme ever with 4.11m extra viewers watching it.....errr.....at a different time......queue puns....

Whilst I don't disagree that the individual programme averages are low, weekly reach is quite a bit up on the equivalent week last year. (509k v 366k)

Since the domestic football and rugby seasons ended I haven't watched much on ESPN either. The last thing I watched was their top 50 goals programme last week. That was a pretty good watch.

The Copa América 2011 starts this weekend so that should provide a boost.

Busy day for Gabby Logan. Launched The Wright Stuff Extra for Channel 5 this morning, Princess Productions' new live show to replace the now defunct Vanessa Show. Now fronting the BBC Red Button coverage of England v Mexico in the Women's World Cup.

Yes, the live figure was 4.7m so the overnights published by the Guardian included the 1.8m who watched time shifted the same day.

I know people are noticing overnights dropping due to warm weather, I thought it would be interesting to compare BARB officials for BBC1/ITV1 six months apart December and June.

ITV1 had a 9.7% all day share on Saturday (9% share of 16-34's). That must be one of the lowest all day shares, but the 16-34 held up reasonably, driven presumably by the peak schedule.

The Sunday all day share being 11.3% (4.4% ITV1 16-34 versus 4.6% for ITV2)

Wretched, but are you surprised: a soap omnibus, a repeat of a daytime show, the Planet's Funniest Animals, the weakest of the On the Buses films and an unofficial Bond film that was slated when it first came out. How I bet ITV wish it had some sport to fill Saturday afternoons again.

It's hardly surprising, who watches anything besides sport on a summer Saturday afternoon?

what is obvious is that the programme spend in very unevenly spread across the schedule, so some days their schedule might cost £4-£5m on days with an England Intl and X factor or a couple of FA Cup games and on other days the schedule is almost zero cost as would be the case from 9.25am to 6pm on Saturday probably.

The other thing is lower rank sports rights that would have been on ITV1 in years past are now on ITV4- BTCC and the cycling tours being examples. So the cheaper filler stuff that used to support daytime and late night ITV1 is now all over on ITV2/3/4.

Those two-part crime dramas don't repeat well at all. I've noticed the BBC only repeat one two-parter from each full SW series, though, so I guess they only do it to get twelve hours of television out of each series. rather than ten hours.

I wonder if Saturday's all-day is the lowest ever? I can't recall seeing a single figure share before. But nothing they try at weekend daytime tends to rate well apart from football, or the Rugby World Cup once every four years.

The closest they get to a good rating is with a Midsomer or Lewis repeat at around 4 or 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon.

I can't think of an all day share for ITV1 being this low, lowest I can recall is a weekday in July 2006 when the station pulled in 11.6 pc and ITV in crisis comments became rife. However, to be fair, they had Wimbledon and two important horse race meetings opposite so ratings would be low anyway, but this must be the lamest ITV1 schedule I've seen since the dark days of 2006. Well maybe even the infamous 1993 Christmas Day schedule when the station decided to give up.

According to Steven Moffat's twitter, Doctor Who's average for those last 7 episodes was 10.1 million, if iplayer is included.

Worst ever ITV1 share was 7.9% for World Cup final day last year.
