Worst ever ITV1 share was 7.9% for World Cup final day last year.
Poor but to be expected. However, what was the lowest BBC 1 share ever?

So was yesterday the second time they've had a single figure share, or are there others I've forgotten about?

It's that time of the week again!

Most Watched Shows of 2011 [Top 20 - Officials]
01 - 13.95m - THE ROYAL WEDDING (29/04/11) - BBC1/HD/BBC NEWS

You may be thinking 'what a pointless post', but actually because of BARB's '6 week amendment rule' we now have a total BBC figure for The Royal Wedding of 13.95m. So not a totally pointless update!
Why would the BBC news be bundled into The Royal Wedding figure?

14.8% for ITV1 inc. HD in the latest officials. (full week)

Comparing to equivalent weeks in previous years that is the lowest ever for that particular week. And not much above their lowest ever weekly share of 13.9%.

Because it was a direct simulcast of BBC One for that portion from 8am to 1:40pm.

another 0.6% for +1 though. then 6.7% for the m/cs (2/3/4/CITV and +1 channels so I suppose the ITV "family" audience tends to migrate from ITV1 to the m/c sometimes when the ITV1 share is low.

Yeah, it seems like ITV1 viewers seem to have transferred to other ITV channels rather than switching to non-ITV channels on the whole. Comparing the ITV Family viewing share for that same week in the odd-numbered years (for fair comparison- there's little point comparing to even-numbered years due to World Cups/Euros inflating those shares):

2011: 22.1%
2009: 21.8%
2007: 26.6% (BGT week unlike others)... week before: 22.9%, week after: 22.1%
2005: 23.3%

So it's been fairly static in the last six years. Also worth noting that those 2005-2009 shares are inflated slightly due to those particular digital channel shares being calculated under the old BARB method of out of 'multichannel-only' homes rather than 'all-homes' unlike 2011, so those shares would in reality be lower than above figures.

What are the expectations for tonight? Sirens sounds good, so hopefully it gets close to 3m.

ITV1 should win the 9pm slot with somewhere between 4.0m-4.5m IMO

4.0m-4.5m would be a disappointment for ITV1 at 9pm. With the competition it has (nearest opposition likely to be below 3m) and thunderstorms sweeping the south of the country it should be in the 5m-6m range IMO. That's where previous ITV1 prison based documentaries have been.

Sirens will steal the headlines tomorrow though and rightly so. Not 100% convinced by the scheduling but I still think it could do really well.

Dont think ITV1 will go that high with a documentary that is basically a re-voiced US piece. Its not normal 9pm ITV1 fare. I suppose it depends on how many viewers are watching tv tonight but m/c should do well at 9pm.

The sensationalist title will probably draw people in.

5USA's NCIS won the slot on multichannel next week, pushing close to the 700k mark. Hopefully see an increase tonight.

Sirens is being pushed a lot on commercial radio ads today. Seems like there is an ad for it in every break.

I also noticed lots of TV ads for Sirens on the UKTV channels, including Dave. I was wondering since Channel 4 handle UKTV's ad sales anyway, do they get those slots free or at a discounted rate?

I only ask that because I haven't noticed ads for Sirens on any other non C4 network, just the UKTV channels.

Ad time is pretty cheap at the moment anyway, so I suppose they will be getting good rates but its obvious that Ch4 are putting a bit of the £'s that would have been used to market Big Brother in previous summers behind this show instead.

They spent somewhere around £12m on marketing shows - radio and multichannel tv will go a lot further than using ITV1 especially if they are targeting only a specific demo.

Last year you didn't include BBC News' simulcast of the Sky News election debate.

That got 1.388m and would have put the debate at number three of the your most watched multichannel ratings.

21:00- The Walton Sextuplets: Moving On: 5.52m (22.57%) , +1: 244k (1.34%)
Thought it'd be worth noting the impressive timeshift here considering it is a documentary.

6.01m excluding HD and 290k on +1 so about ~6.6m in the officials.

The F1 had the highest peak of any BBC One programme yesterday with 5m.

Jake Humphrey:
Was Jake so boastful about ratings before the reports last weekend?

Busy day for Gabby Logan. Launched The Wright Stuff Extra for Channel 5 this morning, Princess Productions' new live show to replace the now defunct Vanessa Show. Now fronting the BBC Red Button coverage of England v Mexico in the Women's World Cup.
So she hasn't left the BBC then. Ridiculous idea for a programme though - The Wright Stuff is already a one-hour show stretched to two, and now they've extended it to three.

It gets messy when you add on different corporations ratings for the same event. DMN only added two BBC channels together for The Royal Wedding.

Sounds like cheap 9pm filler for ITV (originally shown on TLC cable channel in the US earlier this year) - up against a Silent Witness repeat though it ought get 3m. I am surprised The Restaurant Inspector on C5 is not rating better in the same timeslot.

Can see EE/CS rating well tonight, the weather has gone cooler - which sends people from the garden to the lounge. Sirens (C4 10pm) could do well - maybe 2m+ (0.8m in the slot last week), it could pull in the younger audience, with the news for competition, James May & another Samuel Jackson movie.
