dear DS,
we need a mod on this thread to stop it descending into the lord of the flies. Charnham is already there. |

I dont see whats young about This Morning, and im not sure why young people would be its core-auidence, I would think the core-auidence is people less likely to use the web during the day, or people who dont venutre above 20 on the EPG often. Such people obviously being older.

Might Wimbledon and a heatwave have something to do with this. However, This Morning isn't the force it was, but as it's cheap and has its diehard fans, I can't see ITV1 scrapping it even if watching paint dry is more fun.
But....yes, the weather did have something to do with it, but Wimbledon didn't start until the afternoon (which may have affected LW, but not TM). And, as I posted earlier, TM's share was also down significantly week on week and that has little or nothing to do with the weather. I never suggested it was a crisis, but a 16% share on a non-school holiday day really isn't good. I can't see why this observation has caused such controversy. |

Incidentally, this was the official This Morning tweet before today's show:
"Morning! Holby's Bob Barrett and Emmerdale's Jason Merrells are here. Stacie Stewart cooks up summery salmon, and unusual wedding venues!" Enticing, eh? |

Can't just look at one low figure out of context and say it "isn't good". Now, if its been low for the past few weeks then that is concerning. |

Interesting developments on ITV Press Centre. They actually have slightly different info from what DigiGuide was stating yesterday for the 9pm slots:
Sunday 10th July: Law & Order: UK Monday 11th July: Strictly Kosher Thursday 14th July: Single Handed. IMO, i'd have sun- single handed mon- law&order UK thurs- strictly kosher single handed is going to bomb in that slot against two other dramas! |

Can't I? Sorry. In fact, I take it all back. A 16% share for This Morning is actually incredibly good. I'm sure ITV execs are high-fiving one another as we speak. |

sorry - dont click on your links, not sure where you would take me
That said maybe I should have made it clear the link was to a spoof ad. However its always going to be a spoof, as its not like dignitas will ever be allowed to advertise its services. Quote:
I think more likely 30-50 year old women at home. The student following it had in the 90s seems to have moved on. Also it does appeal most to the non ABC1s, which is the core audience for ITV1 in the mornings and the nature of the subject matter( soaps, reality show contestants, Jordan, etc) suggests its aimed at redtop readers.
Still I guess some of its viewers have some commercail value the "Mums Are Heroes" type viewers. |

Some French ratings:
The first series of The X Factor on channel M6 in France ended yesterday and was a flop in the ratings. Yesterday's final, which was won by a Brit who was actually rejected on our version, was watched by only 2.4m (10.8%). To put that into perspective, the show which was axed last year to make way for TXF, called 'Nouvelle Star' (French Idol) had 3.6m (15.3%) for its finale last year. The full series of 'X Factor France' averaged 2.6m (11.5%). This was down by 24% from last year's 'Nouvelle Star' average of 3.4m (14.4%). There was no growth during TXF - it began with 3.3m, which was disappointing anyway as it was 500k lower than 'Nouvelle Star' launch, and ratings have dipped since instead of remaining stable or growing. There's now speculation that M6 will axe TXF and bring back Nouvelle Star. Meanwhile channel TF1, which is the biggest broadcaster in France, has picked up the rights to 'The Voice' which will begin in January 2012. And if you're wondering, the most popular TV show in France yesterday was House with 8.2m - they seem to love it over there. And I think that rating for House isn't far off some of the numbers it was getting for FOX towards the end of the latest season. No wonder they wanted a lower licence fee! |

ITV made the right choice regarding LO:UK on Sundays because on Mondays, it'd have got crushed by New Tricks. As for Single-Handed, I suspect they didn't want to put it against New Tricks which is another old-skewing drama and they probably think it can hold up better against a younger-skewing show like Torchwood. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen, but I can see why they've opted to put Single Handed away from New Tricks. As for Strictly Kosher, it sounds like a flop wherever it's scheduled.
