For services to sub-par presenting, one assumes?

No, a lifetime of entertaining. I am old enough to remember him in Sunday Night at the London Palladium in the early 1960s.

I should also have added that I remember him in a TV production of Oscar Wilde's "The Canterville Ghost" in about 1967. He was very good. Unfortunately the take of it has been wiped. I did enquire because I would have liked to see it again.

Does this mean he will now fade gently away into permanent (hopefully) retirement???

I think not, unfortunatly.

JJ (who - like tonyscribble - remembers him when he WAS good!)

About blimmin time I say! Brucie truly deserves that knighthood, it has made my morning reading the news that he's finally been honoured in a fitting manner.

I was a bit surprised, seeing how many times it had been rumoured, then not occurring. Well done, but once a knight is never enough

I'm pleased. A long standing wrong was finally righted when Forsyth was knighted! Congratulations Sir Bruce!!
