I believe Sir Bruce now picks up £400K for 3 months of Strictly, more before Recession, so he has done well for himself. Has he done well for the nation, for the culture of dance? Could anyone else have provided more feelgood, less cringe? We don't know because no-one else has tried except Ronnie Corbett. Those against Brucie have not yet come up with a feasible alternative.
He has provided a smile to millions over decades, so it appears quantity comes into it, rather like breakfast cereals and reassuringly same toothpaste in every home

. No doubt his charity efforts have added up over the decades when by the age of 83 he does not really need to.
