Unlocking Blackberry
Taz93
11-06-2011
Hi,

I think I've somehow locked my blackberry. I have a lock on my phone and to unlock it you have to put the password in. I thought I was but after 5 attempts it is now saying -

Enter "blackberry" to continue:

I've entered "blackberry" and just blackberry but it's not working. Or does it mean a code/number of some sort. I've looked on the blackberry website and it's not really helpful, it says something like

Administration < Security Breach< Clear Security Breach

Yet I can't find this on the website (blackberry help) whereas, some sites say go into your menu etc but you can't if it's locked.

Help?

I've found this- http://docs.blackberry.com/en/admin/..._619961_11.jsp

It's no help- there's no security breach option on the website.

It asks you to enter blackberry to check that your keyboard is working ok.

Can you see the word blackberry on the screen once you've typed it? Is it all in lowercase, no errors, no spaces?

Once you've entered that and pressed enter, it should then give you another attempt.

If it's playing up, might be worth removing the battery for 30 seconds, then try logging in again.

Ignore this - it is for a specific product/service blackberry offer - something to do with companies that have their office extension number and mobile number linked together.

Hi,

When you type it, you can see the word blackberry on screen yes. Lowercase yes, and no errors.

When you type in blackberry, it just brings the message up again so gives me loads of attempts, but i'm typing it in right and it's still not letting me have the option of typing in my password! basically it's giving me endless attempts of typing in the word blackberry and still nothing is happening.

I've tried the battery, but not for 30 seconds maybe I'll try that.

If still not working I can see a visit to Carphone Warehouse coming on!

Thank you danleto for the link.

My blackberry is now unlocked.

All I had to do was take the battery out with the phone on. switch it back on and then it made me enter blackberry. I did and then it let me type in my password and then unlocked.
