Which is best for iPhone? Is Shazam worth paying a little extra for or am I better off with MusicID?

Simple as that really.

I use Shazam personally. I thought they have a free version?

They do, but there's a limit on the amount of tags you can use in a month. Not good if you do a lot of tagging.

I prefer Soundhound more than Shazam. You can even hum the tune you are trying to find.

so will soundhound work on stuff like live performances? It certainly used to be the case that Shazam would only match versus an exact recording.

But then Shazam is offering unlimited tagging till the end of the year on Android so will probably stick with that.

Not sure why you would want the paid version. I very rarely use Shazam so I don't need many tags.
