Sorry I should have explained my original post better. She's still signed with Syco but she's now also signed with RCA UK (Beyonce, Christina, Alicia, Whitney etc) who will launch her second album in the UK jointly with Syco. She's with Epic for her U.S launch. I hope in the future she ditches Simon and Syco.

It's the other way around actually. It sounds like Alex was trying to drop Syco. But they came to a compromise, and her 2nd album will be a joint RCA/Syco release, but likely with RCA controlling most of the major decisions. Possibly by the 3rd album, Alex will be off the Syco label completely. I think she wanted to avoid embarrasing Simon Cowell by being the first succesful winner to ditch Syco, so this is a slower way to cut ties.

Alex's brother recently said that Syco was an incompentent label, and I don't think Alex has been satisfied with they way they have handled her career so far. She's done very well, but often in spite of Syco's poor decisions. She could be much bigger, with a better label, and people have been saying that for awhile now. Syco isn't a label that knows (or cares) about building up artists with long term potential, which Alex has. They have a quick turnover of new reality show artists, whom they quickly get bored of and eventually drop.

If Alex didn't make this move, she'd have ended up another Shayne Ward (who actually had succes early, but Syco couldn't be bothered to develop, and dropped him 4/5 years later).

I don't think she intends to be another victim of the Simon Cowell "career destroying factory", so she's finding ways out while she still has the time and the clout. Good on her.

Alexandra will become a global superstar.

She has three #1 singles and a #1 albumn.

I love her music and I hope that she has success with her 2nd studio albumn.

I like some of her songs but she doesn't scream "superstar" for me. I don't know what it is.

I knew always Alex was the smartest of all the X Factor winners cause she knows what she wants and how to get. Hopefully now she's on RCA they will push her towards the States. I remember when Alex said Syco said they were going to release her album last year and promote her there but that never happened.

Now I hope she get worldwide push she deserves by RCA. I think she has seen what Simon and Syco have done to Leona and she know she doesn't want that for herself.

Alex is a super star, she the best singer currently in the UK. I seem her live and she better then all the current singers but she BLACK.....

Skin colour has nothing to do with it. Alexandra Burke's lack of success recently is purely due to insufficient management and failure to effectively promote or persuade the major radio stations to play her singles.

Oh boy. I think they mean she'll have issues industry wise. There aren't any dark skinned females around now. But we've had this before. DONT open that can of worms again. PLEASE.

And how exactly do you propose they persuade radio stations to play her singles? Brides are illegal. Record labels are businesses, they do genuinely want their artists to succeed otherwise they will lose money. They often get things wrong but in terms of plugging and promotion, they can't really be blamed when they do. If they could get every artist on all the big shows on the planet, they would, it's in their interest to but you have to be invited onto TV and radio shows. You have to be willingly playlisted by radio stations. You can't force your way onto anything.

I often see people asking 'why isn't X promoting their single on This Morning, Daybreak etc etc?' expecting it to be a given that they have the option to appear on their shows. They don't. If they're not on it, chances are they haven't been invited to be on it.

Interesting that at the start of this (old) thread people are essentially saying she needed to get away from SYCO and hook up with RCA, but a year later the latest posts in other forums say SYCO was better and it is RCA that are incompetent. Another example of it's "everyone's fault" but the person whose name is most clearly emblazoned on the record.

Nobody even said that....people wanted Alex to move away from Syco but not necessarily to RCA. And when RCA have not even tweeted a single thing about Alex's album release, single release, and gave her zero promo on album release week, no-one can suggest it's Alex's fault. She has always had the voice/talent, it's just her team/label have failed to nuture/promote that talent.

Read the OP again. It's says "well done" (on moving to RCA). The following posts say she will be a "global superstar" and that she knows what she wants, she was always the smartest ... etc.

You just cannot push a singer down peoples throats. For whatever reason people just don't connect with Alex. I don't know why - as I've said on another thread, it might be she has the 'Joss Stone' factor.

Just because she's moved from Syco doesn't ensure success. Yeah, Syco is no good for her but how do you know RCA will be better? They could give her too much creative control and have it backfire, or they could control her as much as Syco but just give her different things.
It's very, very hard to get right... She needs to know what kind of artist she wants to be and what kind of music she wants to put out, otherwise we'll just get more "Start Without You"'s.

joe mcelderry moved to decca and has had 2 gold albums since they promoted him much better than syco.
