When will Apple announce there new iPod range?

Please could someone tell me when will Apple announce there new iPod range?

I am hoping that Apple will announce a new iPod Touch range that will have at least 120GB memory and built in microphone.

If we get that then I will definitely be buying one to replace my 2nd gen iPod Touch 32GB.

If Apple follows its usual timing, a new iPod Touch should be announced in September.

I'm in the same boat, but with an 8GB 2nd gen iTouch.

September is usual but with the Japanese shaky thing and the possible delay on the iPhone, the iTouch might also launch a bit later than usual.

Probably not too much later though, as being able to throw away the old model and buy a new better one at the expected time is a requirement for Apple customers.

There are rumors there will be no new iPod Touch this year as September looks like belonging to the iPhone 5.

Wouldn't surprise me if they release both during the September event.

I imagine it will be much the same as the current gen but with an Apple A5 and possibly more RAM.

Indeed, and I'm sure I will not be alone in watching the podcast from the live launch event to learn which magical gems our lord and saviour Steve Jobs has bestowed upon us.

Hopefully a 5th gen iTouch which is quite a bit better than the 4th gen, otherwise an out of contract iPhone could be a better buy.

Basically yes, but also with a 8MP camera and of course iOS5.

If they do bring out an iPhone 5 I hope it's a better design than the iPhone 4

There maybe a 128GB iPod Touch in September. September is when they usually release new iPods. 128GB all depends on how much it will cost to manufacture. I doubt Apple would consider it if the price wasn't reasonable for 128GB of Flash memory. However, if anyone can manage it, it is Apple as they are the worlds largest buyer of flash memory so get better prices than the competition.

128GB iPod Touch would be great. I would also like it to have a built in microphone so that I can use the app Talking Ben the Dog.

And I would also like the next iPod Touch to be able the charge up the battarie when you plug it in to a specker dock like the iPod classic does.

Is there still a market for the Ipod? do people want to carry a phone and a separate media player, as well as possibly a tablet? I guess you could argue that there is still a market for cameras even though most phones have them, but does the ipod do anything a smartphone doesn't?

If they are the biggest buyer of flash memory, how come the ipad only has a measly 64Gb, and even then is £80 more than the 32Gb version?

A 64Gb SDHC card costs only costs £40 more than a 32Gb one on Amazon - surely Apple could offer better value for money.

Oops, silly me, using Apple and value for money in the same sentence.

The back to school offer is normally used to clear stock of the old iPods before the new models get released in September. This year the offer has changed to a £65 Mac App Store card, so it could mean there are no iPods to clear because there won't be any new models anytime soon.

The day when Apple includes a Micro-SD card slot in the device is the day when the price of them is appropriate to the amount of internal flash storage. I've started some initial calculations as to when this will be and that date is currently coming up as "beyond computable parameters".

I would however expect a 128GB iTouch 5th gen this year as 64GB has been the biggest for the 3rd and 4th models. And a new larger 64GB for the iPhone 5 at the high end.

If you mean the iPod classic there is still a market for it until they bring out a phone or pad with a large enough memory

I have an iPod dock/alarm clock. It charges my iPod touch, which is an old 1st gen.

i for one, have an itouch 64gb and a mobile. hate the thought of having my phone as a music player. plus the iphone doesn't have the gb capacity that the dedicated ipods has.

My iPod is for music, my phone is for texts, calls etc and has the capacity for music but like the above quote - it's all about storage for me.
