I should have paid more attention to this, but I've been moving house and had other things to worry about, so apologies if this has been asked before...
My Humax box seems to have updated itself without asking. Obviously the FTP server has been wiped off it, but I can fix that I think.
More importantly, the new software doesn't seem as reliable. Under the old software, I haven't had one crash or failed recording in the 18 months that it's been on the box.
In the few days with the new software, I've had a crash (it rebooted itself when I navigated to BBCi weather!), a weird SCART switching issue (I pressed pause or stop on the HDR and the TV jumped back to its internal tuner), and the EPG doesn't always let me set recordings.
I've had a quick search, and found that now you have to press a couple of extra buttons to get an instantly usable EPG, rather than just pressing guide. That's a bit poor.
So, two questions...
1) apart from what it has broken, has the new software fixed anything I should care about?
2) if not, can I put the old software back on the box, put the FTP server back on, and then lock it all somehow so it keeps working and doesn't auto update?
It took me almost a day in total to get the hack installed and working a few months back, and while I'm sure it'll be a quicker job second time around, I don't relish the idea of having it wiped off again if I revert to the old software, only for it to be "silently updated" again.
Anyone successfully locked their HDR in the state it was a month or so back? Any reason why I shouldn't?
Cheers,
David.

(about 60 metres from one house to the other), and the power seems fine (and the wiring is certainly better - I did it!), but I did wonder if shaking the box up a little has upset it. The move shifted the dust around inside our PC enough to upset that!
. Can you explain what the Auto menu means ?
