Memory Card for Canon 550d

Will the Canon 550d support a UHS-I SD card?

The manual only says
SD
SDHC
SDXC

Class 6 minimum for video recording.

It doesn't mention if the new UHS rate is covered. As the camera was first released over a year ago and UHS needs a new bus rate, I would guess it won't work.

Class 6 -10 will be more than enough anyway. I've got an 8Gb class 10 and it has enough space for 1000 of the largest sized images and records HD just fine.

Did I read somewhere that different cards in the same class can have different data transfer rates?

Speed class is just a guarantee of a minimum speed, the actual card speed can be more than this, based on manufacturing variation, it's just not rated for more.

Anyhow I use a Transcend 16GB Class 10 SDHC card in my EOS 550D and it's all I need and more.
