3 Retentions - Need a deal at contact start
Hey guys. As you lot are normally a knowledgeable bunch, I wonder if anyone can help or has any experience with my particular dilemma.
I'm nearing the end of my contact with Orange and experience frequent switching between 3G/HSDPA which makes browsing and streaming pretty inconsistent, plus the data speeds are lower than the competition. Since trialling 3 for a week using a PAYG SIM last month, I have been desperately waiting for this month when I could get a new Samsung Galaxy S II phone on 3's One Plan. Minutes and texts don't matter - I pretty much only use my phone for data. During my trial, I had good, fast and consistent HSDPA coverage in my local area so thought this'd be perfect for me. A little more expensive than my current plan (£25 vs £30.45 - £35/month less £109 cashback) but I thought it was worth it. That was until I contacted Orange and asked for a PAC code, at which point they offered me what was essentially my current plan (1Gb of data) for £13.50/month. While I would like to have the unlimited data, 1Gb is enough for my current usage so that's a pretty difficult deal to resist. I have telephoned 3 and got through to their overseas call centre who said that I was on the best deal and that they wouldn't offer me anything to stay (as I ordered online, I have a 14 day money back guarantee). My question is whether anyone has a UK based retentions numbers for 3, and also if anyone has ever had any success in a situation such as mine. I'd love to have the better service of 3, but the Orange deal is too good to turn down, despite the poorer service. Thanks for your help - anything at all you can suggest would be much appreciated. |

I think to be honest you are not going to get anywhere with Three.
If you are having internet connection problems on Orange, why stay no matter what the price offered? To be honest the One plan is a fantastic deal and you do get a lot for your money and the internet is truely unlimited. If you have do have a better connection with Three, all I can say is stay with them and enjoy a fantastic tariff and a fantastic phone! |

I've tweeted 3 to see if they can point me in the right direction, otherwise I'll have to seriously think about it. Thanks for your input. |

I don't think you can go wrong with 3. I've been with them more or less from the start. They just get better and better.
I'm on the one plan with an iPhone. The added bonus is you can thether the phone and use it as a modem for a laptop etc. without restrictions. I don't know if your phone would allow that. |

Three are not very flexible when it comes to haggling over a new contract. However I have been with them about 4 years now and find them the best value overall. Although the offer you are getting from orange is hard to turn down.

13.50 x 24 is 324. That doesn't even cover the cost of the Galaxy S2. You sure Orange aren't calming you off with a Galaxy S?
