He said the same thing about scientists in a past series as well.

You get back to what the business might be that anyone can set up though. The inventor Tom is most likely to invent something to make and sell. But he's also not looking that thrusting and he has a poor record actually on the show tasks. which makes the show look pointless if he wins without major successes.

If Sugar thought that about Glen, he really needed not to select him for the show. If he really thought Glen's ideas on the cat food were better, he ought to have registered that as a plus against his bias against engineers.

I think I need to bring back the original post because the reason for my comment and my point has been lost somewhere and I'm not about to a long winded debate about TV production or ... playwriting.

The point I was trying to make is the decision on who to keep or who to fire was made months ago. The producers had no idea of how people would react to Jim for all they know they would have gotten sick of him and tuned off.

Admittedly ratings factor into decisions made in TV, but it works differently in a show like big brother versus a show like this.

Does anyone think that Natasha wanting "full nudity" was k od by the producers saying it would have taken the show too downmarket.

I'm somewhat surprised that nobody at any stage pointed out that an upmarket magazine for oldsters already exists and has been thriving for years. It's called The Oldie.

They simply dont hear her or in the case of Zoe she is aggressively shouted down. It's not surprising she stops objecting.
And we don't see it all, just highlights, Nick said "she was on about it all the time" referring to the costs.

One thing the show failed to mention - Covered was FREE so it's not the same as Nuts, Loaded etc. Totally different market. No-one at the ad agencies mentioned this.

It was an utterly ludicrous decision by Sugar to keep Jim ,who failed as PM, and fire Glen because he is an engineer. In Germany there is a great respect for engineers and they play a leading role in many companies. In Britain boardrooms are stuffed with accountants, bankers and spivs. No prizes for guessing which country produces a large range of quality products that are exported across the world and which churns out Amstrad-style tat.

Well said, apaul.

I wonder if Lord Sugar would ever have considered employing, nurturing, trusting and promoting someone like Jonathan Ive? His approach is so blinkered and old-fashioned, it's hard to have a lot of respect for his decisions.

Really? I think they would have a good guess. The producers aren't idiots - they know when they've either got a character like Stu Baggs or someone who is likely to somehow polarise opinion.

How the hell did Jedi Jim get away with it? Did he in unseen footage just pass his hand and say Lord Sugar I'm not the Apprentice candidate you want to fire?

I so look forward to Thursday mornings when I can read all of the comments on here! I laugh so much that tears roll down my eyes! Keep it up everyone, as an 'over the top' 'hip replacement' oldie, these threads are better than any tonic!

I did like it when Nick confirmed her bringing up the pricing and she thanks him for that.

Felt for Susan in this task - if she'd been more assertive (about the name, pricing etc.) then she would have been singled out for being difficult. An element of "you can't win" whatever you do in this case.

And completely agree with pretty much everyone else who thinks Jim should have gone and Glenn should have stayed - ridiculous!

Jim should have been fired last night, he did nothing but bully Susan and was responsible for the team's failure. His manipulative character showed when he started getting nasty with the advertisers during his pitch, not the most sensible thing to do. Brangdon, I disagree about Lord Sugar, he has generally fired the leader's throughout this series. It was suprising that Glen went last night as it was looking like Susan or Jim were going, as they were the main two arguing in the boardroom.

Not the first time that they've manipulated the editing to trick the viewer. Jim's team chose the wrong target audience in the over 60s as they clearly knew nothing about this age demographic. Some of the comments were unbelievable, the 'coffin dodger' comment was nothing short of an absolute disgrace, the 'Hip Replacement' title was patronising and stereotypical and the same applies to the how to use a mobile phone article. To top it off, they choose an image of a woman in a cardigan when they want to get a cross the idea of a younger looking couple.

At least they went to a bowls club, and showed some intellect but even then they were asking the members about crosswords and knitting. Seriously, Jim's team were an embarrassment and if they had been working with me, I would have gone mad at them!

I work for the OK magazine, so would have generally preferred the Lads Mag task as it must have been a lot easier for Natasha's team, considering they are of a similar age. I was generally impressed with the content of their magazine and the photo on the front page. The only thing that I found inappropriate was the 'Blow your load' comment, this is very derogatory and not the best way to attract potential readers and most importantly in the case of a freemium magazine, advertisers!

Hip Replacement? Hip replacement? HIP REPLACEMENT?

That is literally the worst name that anybody has ever thought of for a magazine in the history of the world, ever.

he fired Glenn for a pathetic reason IMO. I suspect Jim will be the Baggs of last year, should have gone ages ago but will fired spectacularly at the the interview stage.
