I've still not watched any of the links posted for the new guy, but I will have a look at them tonight People certainly seem to be pretty impressed with him from what I can see .....and apparently he's HAWT too which helps

I wonder what's going to happen with Pasha. A new season of SYTYCD US has started and only last week they had one of the ballroom girls dance wit Pasha in the "meet the contestants" special. They are supposed to have all stars in the latter part of the competition this summer and if Pasha took part last week, he could have been signed already to be one of the AllStars.

Would that coincide with his training for SCD if SYTYCD US goes all summer?

Wow Pasha Pasha Pasha. When I first heard that the BBC was getting new pros I thought Pasha should be in the line up and finally....I think he will be a great addition.

This is one of my favourite Pasha dances on SYTCD. A waltz with Lacey Schwimmer. I know it is not in hold and is American style but it is beautiful nonetheless.

Just show versatility here he is doing hip hop, again with Lacey.

and teaching the jive with Anya

Here is what the audition dance looks like in its enirety with costumes.

Right there with you Fizzy T.
And what's with getting another short one? One of the things that really annoyed me last year was that Jared was too short for Aliona.
Apparently Pasha is only 5'10", so no super models again this year!

OMG! On top of everything else I've just realized that Camilla won't even be in the audience this year as she'll be doing Calendar Girls up until Christmas so I won't even have that little diversion to keep me happy

If it wasn't for the fact I'm going to see Calendar Girls tomorrow I'd be really depressed now

5'10" is not short as heights go. At that height he wouldn't be too short for Aliona either. Yes it means that there is no-one suitable for really tall ladies to take part (5'10" upwards) but I suspect the likelihood of them getting many supermodels on is quite slim...and Miranda Hart was an unlikely rumour as she had already said in the press that she was busy writing and filming Miranda in the autumn.

However, with the total loss of Darren from the show (or Jared for that matter) what they now have a problem with is only having Vincent at the short end of the spectrum for short ladies. Last series Felicity, Tina and Ann were around the 5' mark.
Nearly all of their contestants will have to be around the 5'4"-5'8" height range!

I'll ask the question then.
How on EARTH has Anton been given yet another series?
Or are they planning on making another ridiculous mess of this series like last one by including someone of Widdicombe's ilk

[quote=Ballroom-B.;50801751]5'10" is not short as heights go.

Sorry, my OH is 6'3" and my daughter is 5'10" so in my world, 5'10" seems short for a bloke. I've got such a thing for tall men I can't tell you!
Ballroom-B.
15-06-2011
Ah it comes from being at the other end of the spectrum. I'm only a little over 5' and in our household no-one is taller than 5'4" so 5'10" is huge to me!
I don't think 5'10" is actually considered short. Average to tall I would have said but I guess if you're used to being around people over 6' then 5'10" probably does seem short.

Glad they've got rid of the dance troupe, it really was just a bit of an embarassment how they handled that. Hopefully that means more proper pro dances instead, and guest pro couples too - would be lovely to see Matt and Nicole back, for example, or Ian back to dance with Natalie!

I'll reserve judgement on Pasha, but i like what I see in the pictures and vids Have to admit I won't miss Jared at all, looking forward to seeing Aliona dance with someone who's the right height for her and able to do proper lifts with her. I wish they hadn't given Anton another series - I like Erin, but I would always have Matt or Ian back instead of Anton, or Robin for that matter.

Agreed about Ian and Matt - my only hope is that Ian will appear on ITT - every day please!

Oh but it did - Artem!

I don't think it's a question of people 'having something against' Robin, it's personal opinion. I didn't like his choreography and didn't rate him as a dancer in comparison to most of the other male pros.

I totally agree with you, Sid. A shabby way to treat them.

The Pro Madness continues for another series then - how the hell does Anton keep on going?

I am a big fan of Pasha, I am sure he will be a big hit on Strictly. Loved Lacey as well.

Feel sorry for Jared. He didn't have much of a chance, his SCD was interrupted when poor Tina got chicken pox and then that shock elimination. Would've thought they would give him a second chance. Thrilled that Artem and Robin are back, but would love to see Darren and Ian more involved. Am I the only one who wouldn't be gutted if Vincent left? Clearly I'm not alone in being able to live without Anton! Darren and Ian seemed far preferable on the boards I frequented. Suppose they need more of a 'showbiz' persona, something to appeal to the older ladies like Anton. Hope they do some choreography

Anton may not be popular as a pro on here but overall he is popular with people. Back in the days of the BBC boards he had two or three fan clubs.
Yes his latin is old fashioned and uses a lot of basics, but I think there is still a place for him in the line-up. I think the show needs a range of temperaments (and skills/ideas) amongst the pro dancers to suit the potential contestants.

Last year I couldn't see any of the other male pros having the patience to remain calm and not be rude to AW given her attitude to some of the dances. Frankly he couldn't play it straight as it was impossible just on the height difference alone. In other years he hasn't messed around - he's just been landed with duffers. His latin with Laila was letting them down but if the VTs are to be believed she wasn't exactly helping him out, but he wasn't messing, just sticking to basics.

Its the male Pro line up that always baffles me - Darren, Matt and Ian were fantastic Pros - I would take them over James, Anton and Robin... even Vincent.... and Brendan too...

I agree its a shame about Jared - it would've been good to see if he would've done any better with another partner - but then again maybe his age/ experience was against him

Not suprized or worried that Jared left, he did look out of place comapared to the other pro's in group numbers , looked a bit like a work experienec kid.Still cannot believe there is not a place for Ian, guess he does not fit in with new producers ideas. I don't enjoy teh way SCD os going, orginally it was all about teh dancing, watching the celebs learn a new skill and watching the relationship grow between pro and celeb. Now it seems to be all about BAd boys ( James & Brendan) flashy boys that like to have their bare chest on show ( Artem & Robin) and the clown Prince ( Anton). I am not convinced that most of these are good chroeographers & teachers, and doubt some of their dancing ability. When you then add flashy sets, props galore and gymnastic show dances it seems like dancing has gone out of the window. Oh for the style grace and elegance of tall dancers like Ian and Matthew.
Although the pro troupe was a waste of space, and I think a way for the Beeb to appease the upset fans, it is just such a shame that the talent of someone like Ian now won't grace our screens. Fingers crossed that there maybe guests appearences on the show or ITT but sadly I am not holding out much hope
Will reserve judgement on new guy until seen him in action

I think it's a shame that no real effort was made with the dance troupe.

As it was, it was rubbish, but if it had been promoted better, (the dancers had actual names, aside from Darren and Ian I doubt most people could name the troupe members) and received more production support, I could have seen it working well.

It would have freed up the competing pros to concentrate on their celeb. It should have been an opportunity to display some amazing pro dancing, but you could tell the troupe had spent barely any time/effort on the routines, and who can blame them considering how they were treated?

As for pros, aside from Artem and James I really felt the quality had gone out of the choreography last year.

Anton (and therefore Erin) aren't going anywhere. They are being retained to partner the duffers, plus Anton and Brendan are the only pros known to the majority of the public.
