I totally agree with your comments on Ross, she never listened to the views of the audience last year, and I'm absolutely positive she will continue in the same vein.

It's utterly baffling why she keeps Anton (OAP) du Beke, and won't bring back talented dancers like Matthew Cutler and Ian Waite. My theory is that she won't change her mind because it would emphasise the big mistake she made in getting rid of them in the first place.”

Got it in one!

Whatever happened to 'if it ain't broke...'???

I hoped we'd see Ian back too Jan.

Guess we'll say goodbye to the tall girls too.

I'd bring back Ian & Matthew and bring in Matt Flint and Pasha Kovalev as professionals and retire Jared, Robin, Anton and Brendan.

Well the fact that last year achieved the show's highest ratings ever suggests that Moira Ross was correct in the changes she made as far as the general public were concerned.

Matt Flint isn't a professional in ballroom and latin though. Surely the difference with Pasha and Artem is that they were already trained in ballroom and latin before doing SYTYCD (USA).
Matt did a good job with the ballroom and latin on SYTYCD (UK) but not to professional standard, and to claim him as a pro wouldn't be fair - he hasn't taken the qualifying exams as far as I understand, for starters.

I would happily have Matt flint on to do a tap demo etc though!

Yep just about all the dancers who make it to the 20 top have trained in their respective fields. When it gets narrowed down they have spend a week training in all the different genres with where all the judges vote them through or not. They have to show at least some proficiency in each style to make it. For ballroom dancers comtemporary routines, solos and hiphop can do them in just as the contemporary dancers struggle with ballrooom.

I image Matt Flint will do a show dance tap jazz/broadway type routine?

Yeah, poor Erin always gets lumbered with the duffers (with the exceptions being Jackson and Healey). She's lovely and deserves far better.

Pasha and Holly Vallance would be sex on legs together!

I guess I would pose the question - what experience does a pro need to be considered for SCD from a fan perspective?”

Hi Lili It is simply that I can't find details of his competitive record, whereas I can for most of the Strictly pros including Artem and Jared. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or searching on the wrong name?
I'm not putting him down (well maybe I am a bit if I'm to be honest). And in any case, he doesn't need to have competed extensively to be a good ballroom/latin dancer. I don't know anything about him at all (don't watch SYTYCD) and so am willing to keep an open mind especially I had reservations over Artem before last series

He and Anya competed under their professional names which were Pavel Kovalev and Anna Garnis.

I think his best placement was #2 rising star Latin at Blackpool in 2005.

Lili, thanks. Well that is a very extensive and impressive competitive record, and so that is reassuring.
(I did wonder if I was searching under the wrong name!)
