Is it Leadworth or Legworth?
So here we have a typical country village. One pub,one post office. Where mobiles and computers are a common occurance and newspaper headlines from the 90's? I know people have already speculated on this but it just seems on odd thing. Maybe I am rambling I don't know. Maybe the village is out of sync with everywhere else. I am inclined to believe The Doctor has done something to this village to keep the future Pond family safe. This is the only reason I can suspect that they will fully be safe.

Not video and camera phones and there wasn't webcams either. Rory's phone is extremely modern.

That's because the cameraphones webcams laptop bits etc. were in 2008, not in the 90s. The Doctor visited Amelia in 1996, the Atraxi stuff was in 2008, and The Doctor came back for her again in 2010

It's Leadworth by the way. I saw one poster call it Knebworth once! That's not a small country village, ok it's a small town, but not as rural as Leadworth!

There could be something there, but unlikely. If there is then Moff's a genius in making most people forget about it! Although he can't stop dedicated fans from noticing every little detail and analysing it to death!

Leadworth, as a village, has no anchronous values. There were mobiles and computers around in the 90s (seeing as though the first mobile phone networks were created in the 70s, and mobiles have been commercially available since the 80s).

As for one pub and one post office - that's perfectly legitimate. There would usually be one pub near the green, then the rest would be scattered around the environs.

I personally don't find Leadworth suspicious in any way!

Apparently one of the headlines is "Nintendo unvails N64" the N64 was released about 10 years before that.

Is there a picture to prove that?

Could it have been for the 90s set part of the episode for a scene that wasn't filmed?

The village I live in has 2 pubs and a post office which is tucked into the corner of the one single shop...

We're pretty rural too.

Hi cant find pics. tbh it wasnt me that pointed it out. I never noticed anything, I was to busy actually enjoying the programme to examine it on a level but, you know people keep pointing out the date error on Rory's badge* (which I never noticed either) and thought that it might have something to do with that.

*I honestly believe it was a production mistake but wheres the fun in that.

Presumably by the same props people who made Rory's badge....

Same here. One Post Office/general store, one pub own the road and another up at the Marina.

Absolutely not! I love having cows eating all my plants off the back fence, and being snowed in in winter, and having to go 3 miles to the nearest Post Office, and being woken up at 4 am by cockerels, and if I want to go anywhere after 6pm having to get a taxi which costs a tenner.

Actually I'm kidding. Opening my bedroom window first thing, seeing the sunrise over the back field and listening to the curlews and lapwings makes it all worth while.

As someone who lives in Somerset in tiny hamlet called Cannards Grave I find it hard to live in the country. I was born and raised in Manchester so its a bit of a culture shock for me really. I still cant get used to (even after three years of living here) waiting an hour for a bus (which is half an hour away) or walking half an hour to the nearest shop.

I agree the scenery is wonderfully breathe taking sometimes. I mean the sunsets and the fact that at night I can look up at the sky and see loads of stars especially my favorite constellation Orion makes it worth my while.

Don't forget that some of the scenes in "Leadworth" were actually set in "Upper Leadworth" and even in the DW "reality" - Upper Leadworth was just a fictional part of the village invented by the Dream Lord.

Incidentally, I live in the area where Leadworth is supposed to exist and there are plenty of places around here that look like that. Don't forget that we have been shown that the Olde Worlde part around the village green is not the whole place - Amy and Rory now live on a regular housing estate (TIA)

I don't have it on the Sky HD box anymore (self deleted cos I forgot to clear some space ) so I can't double check but I'm pretty sure that the "Tardis blue" envelope gave their address as Leadworth.

Hi I have it on Itunes but it does say Leadworth in very,very tiny letters. (I had to turn my laptop on its side to read it)

I used to live in Bridgenorth (lovely place, I'd advise all to visit it at some point...), and that was split into Upper and Lower, but it was only a colloquialism - the addresses themselves were just Bridgenorth.*

I doubt it was made up by the Dreamlord, and it was just something that was refeered to as upper, as it was where the better neighbourhood was.

*I, of course, lived in Upper Bridgenorth - which it was, literally, as it was on top of the cliff that splits the Upper and Lower part

There's no "e" in Bridgnorth (and it is a lovely town with a ton of history plus the fabulous trains)

I must admit, I'd taken "Upper Leadworth" as being a Dream Lord invention - this posh part of the village with a castle and only populated by old people - but I see that tardis-wiki is saying that it may be a dream but could also be just a part of the village that we hadn't seen. I would, however, say that it would be extremely unusual for a village to have two churches - so it doesn't feel "real" to me.

Incidentally, "Upper Leadworth" was filmed in a beautiful village just down the road from where I live - Skenfrith. It really is as fabulously olde worlde (and posh) as it looks on screen. I think that the only thing they changed for the show was to add the swings next to the castle.
