I don't think that was a valid reason to fire Glenn

How very random I guess because of Jim and Susan's past performances it just turned out that Glenn was the weaker one of the 3 and so was fired?

That would be a very good tactical move from Jim then to bring in the weaker one because something tells me Alan wanted to fire him.

Completely wrong decision. Jim should have been fired- he lacks integrity and is quite loathesome.

Jim was awful this week, as usual, worming and sliding his way out of trouble like the snake he is. He should have gone, not Glenn.

So Glenn was fired because he was an engineer, as Alan Sugar does not know of an engineer that is good at business.

I wonder if he would have said the same thing to James Dyson, who I think is worth more than Sugar himself.

I dunno - I disagreed at first, but I suppose he gave Glenn seven weeks to prove he was more than just an engineer and Glenn obviously didn't. His greatest achievement was 'Catsize'...

Glen was the weakest link out of the three. AS wanted to keep the other two in the process, so Glen was fired for overall performance.

I don't think there was a valid reason why gourmless Glenn even got onto the show in the first place.

He was neither very capable, nor entertaining. So goodness knows what producers saw in him.

I thought Glenn was pretty braindead and totally out of his depth. Maybe Sugar just didn't want to phrase it that way.

Glenn was practically ornamental, he did very little, he didn't seem to think he made mistakes when his pitch was dreadful and the cover photo was terrible. Sir Alan made the right decision. Although, in saying that, if Jim had taken Zoe back into the Boardroom instead of Susan who was the best of the losing team by far, I reckon Zoe may have found it hard to talk herself out of being fired after being the main reason for the failure of the task for the second time in a row.

I agree. At least Glenn managed to win his task as PM. All we have seen Leon do is deliver 2 awful pitches, then complain when someone else took over. Oh I forgot, he was the first to be charmed by Jedi Jim!

Agree there though he is likeable but then Glenn was likeable too. There has to be more to them than that.

Jim is good TV. Some of the comments made to him by Nick and Karen tonight were bang on the money and I hope he takes them on board.

Was very glad Susan has another chance, bless.

He shouldn't be in the show if LAS didn't like his CV, same goes for Edna.

Methinks they are just put in there as pawns so when the time is right, the right candidates can be saved and the CV Card can be brought out by LAS to rescue certain candidates.

Like i said before, the winner must have been predetermined.

I doubt he got fired just because he's an engineer. He just showed no spark or skills that would be invaluable to Lord Sugar. Actually, I'm starting to wonder which candidates have this quality, lol.

Every series there is at least one incomprehensible firing - this was certainly one of those.

I mean 'hip replacement'? Come one. It is one of the worst creative projects i've ever seen on the show.

Of course LS has a list of people that he wants to get rid off, he just has to wait until they are in the final 3.

Lets face it Glenn was never ever going to win this thing so he may as well go now so that the other true potential winners have a chance to shine.

As a concept I thought it was very good and it could have worked out really well if Zoe's idea had been followed through.

What Jim made of it is what made it bad.

He wasn't! Jim is the weakest candidate left imo; loud but weak. Doesn't possess any business acumen either.

From Ellie's firing, all Sugar's decisions have been farcical. The minute he started with 'Your CV...' I knew Glenn had had it as he used the same tactic firing Edna last week . When he can't pin the loss of the task on his target, he attacks their CV. If the CV is so bad, why shortlist the candidate for the series in the first place?

Glenn, although you didn't actually do anything wrong in this task I can tell you're a bit of a chav and you won't make as good TV when it comes to the interview stage as Jim will, so for that reason Glenn....you're fired.

This - apart from the chav bit. No one's chavvier than LA himself!

So Glenn was fired because he was an engineer, as Alan Sugar does not know of an engineer that is good at business.

I wonder if he would have said the same thing to James Dyson, who I think is worth more than Sugar himself.
He did say that he was referring to the engineers he has worked with. A statement we can't prove or disprove. So quoting examples of engineers who have gone on to create successful businesses is irrelevant, as it was a judgment of engineers in his experience rather than the entire profession in general.

I think that firing Glenn on that basis is a bit crap (if he was genuinely poor he should have just said it), but it hardly suggests as if he has a vendetta against anyone with a BEng degree or is a Chartered Engineer (which does not automatically confer brilliance in everything you do).

It's Sugar's money. He can pick anyone for any reason. I don't see the point of the outrage.

Not strictly speaking true.

He can't pick someone because of their colour.
He can't pick someone because of their race.
He can't pick someone because of their religion.
He can't pick someone because of their sex.

And just because someone is entitled to do something does not mean that no one can call them a plonker for so doing if they feel that is the case.

Seriously, he should shut up about his personal problems with lawyers/engineers/degree holders/advertising people. Not because he's not entitled to speak about them but because it make him look as if he's petty and has a big chip on his shoulder.
