Yeah I like him but the "errrrrrrr" thing is annoying, I noticed as well it basically means "I just told a joke" as he doesn't do it when he says something seriously.

I didn't even notice it until I read this thread. Really hope it doesn't start to bother me now - I love Dara.

There is actually a Facebook appreciation page for that noise, I kid you not.

Graham Norton has been doing it for ages too.

It's some sort of sub-conscious emphasizer- as if to tell people they should laugh at that point, even when what's said isn't that funny. Jo Brand does it as well.

It bugs me no end and I like both Dara and Graham.

I think he does it (as Ænima said above) as a way of emphasising the line he has just said; or it could also be giving himself thinking time about what to follow it up with. Maybe he dislikes silences more than most.

It might have been a nervous tic when he started out and something he's not even aware he does anymore?

He shows up that moaning whats-his-name for the rubbish person he was when he was presenting it. Chiles.

I would imagine it's a technique that is used by comedians so that they can deal equally well with a good reaction to the joke or none at all.

One of the most embarrassing things that happens with inexperienced (and some experienced) comedians is when they pause for laughter after a joke and none comes. Less embarrassing but still vaguely unprofessional is when they start their next sentence and have to stop because of loud/prolonged laughter.

Dara's 'eerrr' gives hime time to gauge the reaction and either pause or plough on.

I must be the only person who preferred it when Adrian Chiles presented it and I usually try to avoid programmes he's on. I was pleased when I heard Dara was going to present it but he's spoilt it for me. He seems to think he has to rattle out as many jokes as he can and as a result I can't understand a word he's saying half the time. I'd rather hear more from the three guests who seem to have become slightly superfluous.

Yeah, I didn't mind Chiles on You're Fired. I didn't care much for him on things like the One Show and Daybreak but this was the programme I didn't mind him on. Sure, he tried at times to be funny (like Dara does, as suppose is automatic of any comedian) but I didn't feel he went too ott in this area and still kept on point with the guests and the departed candidate which I feel Dara does just slightly less. I like Dara, don't get me wrong.

Nah, Chiles was great on this show, better than Dara, IMO.

Nope, another Chiles cheerleader here.

Agreed.

With Adrian it was the perfect balance of analysis and humour. Now it's just Mock the Apprentice.

I marginally preferred the style when AC was presenting but I have no problem with Dara who is a great comedian.

My main complaint would be some of the d list 'celebrities' that they've had on the panel. Last week they had someone whose claim to fame was, IIRC, that she was a choreographer, for heaven's sake.

The panel should be one expert in the appropriate field, one comedian and either Nick, Margaret, Karen, or a finalist from a previous series.

I've got nothing against Dara but I enjoyed Adrian much better. I think Adrain was funnier and I found it generaly more enjoyable with Adrian.

Unnecessary! I for one wasn't complaining about it - I was speculating as to why he might do it. But why can't people say they find it annoying if they do?

I like Dara but You're Fired is definitely more bawdy with him at the helm.
I feel that The Apprentice has gone downmarket in general.
It's partly Sugar's fault with his use of "Bollocks" in the boardroom. And as for 'blow your load'
Would he have said it in front of Margaret, I wonder?
It's gradually starting to resemble the Trump version.
The rubbish task and the magazine task were just boring.
It doesn't feel like event TV anymore.
I'm indifferent to all the candidates this time around - they're such an insipid bunch that I can't remember most of their names.
Maybe it's just a temporary blip but I hope the decline doesn't continue.
I'll always watch it though.

It's turning into the Dara O'Briain show, where he makes light of something but then keeps at it like it's part of his act and the people sitting round the table are the front row of the audience....errr.
