I did the retune because of the change in signal, i can watch the channels without a problem and record once i am on them.

My problem is Scheduled programs set to record. I get the "failed" with "No Signal" notification. I am i the only one ? or is there something i need to do ?

Thanks in advance

Perhaps a bad connection on the second cable.
What PVR are you using?

I am guessing that you have either the Grundig or Bush HD recorder.

In this case, I think that the box does not switch cleanly to the new S2 signals from the BBC, and recording fails. ITV HD and CH4 HD not affected ( yet ? )

See my earlier post, I now have an HD receiver !!!!

Yeah sorry. Should have said Goodmans, not Bush. I believe that the Goodmans and Grundig boxes are essentially the same.

From what I can see, this is just the latest shortcoming in this particular offering. Like you, I discovered that it would record if the tuners were already looking at BBC 1 HD or BBC HD. If not, scheduled recordings fail "Due to no signal ".

I think that the box just takes too long to switch to S2, and the rest of the software has given up by then. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has been done to offer us updates for the several previous shortcomings that this expensive waste of space exhibited. Certainly there is still nothing useful on their download site.

I think that the only solution that you will find, is to buy a box that actually works.

Right try this test to ensure you have two working tuners.

Tune to 108 and start an instant recording, start a second on 109. Now tune to any other channel (119 would be good) and press pause. Can you live pause any third channel ?

Running out of ideas, Emmerdale recorded fine for me last night, (ITV1-HD Granada - series link reservation). I watched it in chasing playback starting about 15 minutes behind real time.

What firmware version does diagnostics report ?

That's the latest. I asked because V1.00.13 would fail to record if ITV changed the event id's. V1.00.15 usually records if this happens.

Which version of ITV1-HD are you using. If you don't know tune to 119 and press opt+. Post the transponder frequency.

With 119 tuned go to diagnostics and post quoted signal strength and quality.

Was the recording a series one and did the shortened recording go into a series folder ?

That's ITV1HD-Granada the same as my box. You have the same firmware as I do and a good signal. At a loss to say why yours failed to record the full programme. Possibly some sort of mains surge. You have done the normal fix (factory reset). I presume the schedule updated itself to the next episode.

Does your schedule include tonights Emmerdale ? If so it will be interesting to see if it records.

Can I ask a question or two (because as Graham has indicated this is an interesting problem - (He is the expert on such matters) - what was your HDR doing at the the time of the scheduled programme? Standby or another channel. What signal level do you get on the freesat transponder (channel 999, I think Graham?)

It seems this thread started out about a Goodmans/Grundig BBC HD problem butchanged topic to problems with the Humax-HDR!

But back on topic, I'm still suffering with the scheduled recording of the BBC HD channels.

Are there many other people out there still suffering the same problems?
The boxes in question are still on sale in many shops - surely whoever builds these boxes should be updating the software to fix the bugs.
Does anyone know which company makes the Goodmans/Grundig boxes? Wouold we be able to do a FOI to find out how many complaints they have received due to this issue or contact Watchdog?

Don't have one of these myself, but previous posters have indicated that Goodmans / Grundig / Bush are all made by Harvard plc. This seems to be confirmed by the entry on the DTG web site relating to OTA firmware upgrades. see link below:

Hi, I came back from a fortnights holiday to find exactly the same problem.

In a way it is good to know I am not alone, but it is very annoying as there were several things which I could have recorded standard def!

It does seem to be a bit hit and miss as not everything fails.

Having had Humax freeview boxes which for ever needed ota updates I still think the Goodmans is a good bit of kit and excellent value.
