It makes me think that Lord Sugar probably always says the "with regret" part when firing candidates but that it's often edited out to make it seem more brutal.
The boardroom scene seemed poorly edited.... one minute he's talking to Susan and then it cuts to Glen, you're an engineer....you're fired.... clearly quite some chunk was poorly removed from what we saw.
