Are their choices within tasks limited?
Here's something that occurred to me during the magazine task this week.
I wondered if they were limited in the genre of magazine they could produce. For example, in the morning the "Hip Replacement" group decided to target over 60s. And within a couple of hours, the focus group complete with the all the TV production shenanigans that must go on had been arranged, set up and filmed in an entirely different location. How did that happen so quickly if it wasn't pre-arranged? |

Silly me.
I thought that attraction may have been the prospect of a discounted soup-and-a-sandwich deal. |

It's quite clear that there are many aspects of tasks where the teams are limited by rules of which we have no knowledge.
It's yet another reason why the outcome of the tasks is, in reality, nothing more than a lottery. |

Indeed.
It would be interesting to know which "decisions" over the years LordSirAlan lambasted someone for in the boardroom but where they actually had no choice whatsoever. |

You know, i wondered if maybe they had a selection of magazines and had to pick one from that.
If there was a choice of maybe 5 or 6 styles, then the focus groups would be easier to set up, as well as have content already created. That's the other thing that got me - the actual articles. I assumed they were mocked up headlines with no actual words behind them - but then LS congratulated Leon on his article on making a grand in a day. When did he have time to write a magazine article?? |

I presumed it was just the idea for the article he had come up with, but not yet written the whole thing because the magazine was just a mock-up. The article in question was mentioned on the front and it was a good idea to show that even though the whole thing hadn't yet been written.

You have to wonder about the fairness of that because they would clearly spend valuable time discussing which option they want and no matter what the basis for deciding which team is allowed to go with their first choice, it is obvious that the other team will need to start the process of choice again. ETA: Unless both teams are told to pick two options. That would still put the team that had to go with their second choice under a distinct disadvantage. |

They always read something with every task, so that could be a book of rules
