You think that the kind of people who hack into multinational corporations with million dollar security budgets would have issue hacking into your secret porn stash on the D:\?

Just because they're not routing through the common mans' drives doesn't mean it's more secure, just that it's not "Lulzy enough".

Just uploaded one, xls, worked out fine. If you're using an archaic format, well that's to be expected. Regardless, the point is redundant. You wouldn't do your work in MSOffice then upload to the Cloud converting formats as you go. You would do your work in the Cloud, already connected to Google's docs (hypothetically).

Archaic format. You're the one working in that. My upload was Office 2010 thanks.

Oh, xlsx. It's like docx, Microsoft suddenly decide that they want to encode the data differently and the rest of the world can jump along, thank you very much, and buy their new product. Have you seen what other programs do to docx/xlsx/whateverx? It's terrible.

More fool the early adopters, but later models down the line are going to get better and cheaper as advances in internet speeds increase and software updates start rolling out.

The lack of whelm is pretty typical for anything which is slightly different over what we consider is established technology. It may find a niche though. It may be the vanguard of the future of computing.

Cloud computing, whether you like it or not, is the future. There's a reason there's been a noticeable proliferation in wi-fi, 3G etc. Though the UK is admittedly woefully behind.”

Yes cloud computing is definitely the future. And it might be for you. But with reports like this in the news, I think I still prefer local storage thanks.

And there you have it, a cloud is as safe as its most incompetent employee.

'Prefer' it all you want, that's still not going to stop the technological growth.
