Is the automatic clock information sent as part of the analogue TV signal in the same way as Teletext? If so, will the clock on my analogue DVD Recorder stop updating itself when my region goes through DSO next month?

The automatic part will stop working, but you may find there is a way to manually set the clock. Worth checking the manual first....

Yes it will stop automatically updating, many have found it's already stopped (even before DSO) as the BBC don't seem to bother correcting faults with it.

Simply use the manual clock settings, or better still buy a PVR.

Thanks for the advice. I have Sky+HD, but this obviously has no clock on the display.

I find the auto update handy on my DVD Recorder as it's connected to a mains block which I switch off at night. I guess I'll just have to plug it in separately so that I don't have to reset it manually every time.

Buy a clever clock? I have an alarm clock by Pure that uses the radio signal to set the time.

Doesn't solve the OPs problem though - which is wanting it to start / stop recording at certain times - for which it needs its own clock to be correctly set.

Currently it's automatic as it will be calibrated from the time-signal broadcast as part of the analogue TV signal. When this stops, it won't be able to automatically set the time.

Nah, I use Sky+HD for my recordings. I would just like a little backlit clock which resets itself after the power has been switched off.

Fair enough - I'd assumed the reason for asking was wanting to use the time function. In which case the other suggestion given will work for you.
