Today begins the start of the search for the DS Apprentice!

10 candidates have signed up to fight it out for the chance to show these forums what they're made of!

Through several tasks, the candidates will be whittled down until one remains as the DS Apprentice

Stay tuned when at 5PM today, the candidates will be revealed, split into teams and the first task will be announced!

Now, let's meet the first of our Apprentice candidates, each candidate has written a short introduction on for themselves...

First up, hoping to prove they have what it takes; it's TYJET

'My username pretty much speaks for itself. "Tyjet" is latin for "amazing". Well, it's not really, but I'm 99.999% certain it translates into something. I'm pretty adept at making origami cranes, I'm a beast at Jenga and I hate political discussions. Oh, and I love getting money & hate spending it, so if you buy a lottery ticket, I'm your winning numbers.'

Nope, the first task is happening after the candidates are introduced and then it all begins, there will be boardrooms on the thread for people to watch, and recaps etc if possible beforehand

'My name is Mary Patricia. I'm thirty years old and I believe I have the skills Lord Sugar is looking for to set up a successful business. I come from a mixed background. I worked in catering before moving into an office environment and now I work in WebDesign.

I believe that having experience of different fields will give me the edge over other canditates. I'm here to excel and if I wanted to make friends I would join Friends United. I am very direct and believe that a spade is always a spade, never a shovel.

I want to grow both personally and professionally during this process and hope that my business acumen is appreciated and respected. I would be an asset to Lord Sugar and will use this time to show that to him. The other candidates better take note. I'm here to win, failure is not an option.'

'My name is David, also known as Carlisle, and I have an array of qualities which make me a perfect candidate for this. I am a positive person & a natural team leader who is able to respect & utilise every team member to allow them to capture all of their individual strengths, which will allow the group as a whole to achieve results that surpass normal expectations.

Solutions that really drive companies come from younger people. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs—when they created their vision, they were really young. I strive to be as successful at them.

In the past I have proven myself a worthy businessman, despite having no working experience. At the age of 13 I was awarded a trophy for best speaker at Youth-Speaks national Public Speaking competition. My superb communication skills allowed us to progress the local stage before finishing an acceptable 2nd place in the county district finals. This isn’t all as at the age of 16 I bought 8 6-pack cans of Pepsi for a bargained price of £15 and went on to sell them for a total net worth profit of £25. This was with no prior experience with selling or bargaining. Last May & June I took my GCSE’s and came out with 17 A*-C grades. I intend on applying to several acclaimed universities for Accountancy & Finance, with plans to do a Masters Degree in Business Management at the end of my time at University.'
