I am hoping to buy a DVD recording in the next few weeks and wondering what is the best one for my use. As I am going to use it for personal use (transfer VHS to DVD) but also send discs to USA and Australia of UK shows which I receive US shows in return. Please remember this is not a profit making method its more tape trading.

However I am not sure if the DVD recorders available in the UK can record without the region codec so they can view discs over there, as I've recieved a couple of DVDs from the US which was region-free but still showed a NTSC signal which my old/spare TV didn't support it (it was a black and white picture). So I'm worried that since we uses PAL technology it will result the same in the US but not so in Australia, but I suspect I am babbling on here. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I don't really wan't to spend more that £250 and tempted of getting the Panasonic E55 from amazon.co.uk
