So yesterday, or maybe it was Tuesday, I was talking to my cat about Doctor Who as I often do. And my cat said Tom Baker was a rubbish Doctor. Now my cat is a DW obsessive. It prefers old who to the more modern stuff. So this is a cat that really knows its stuff. After I had finished talking, to my cat, I wondered if maybe it was right and thought I'd start a thread. Based on stuff my cat said. Is my cat right? Was Tom Baker actually a rubbish Doctor? Or is my talking cat wrong? Thought this would be a great thread. Really kick off some debate.

My cat can't talk. I don't actually have a cat.

Hey, I licked the back of my pet toad just now & he tells me that William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant and Matt Smith were all shite Doctors - is my hallucegnic(?) amphibian friend right?

P.S. I'm only guessing that Peter Cushing must be my toad's favourite Doctor!

If my cat, my talking cat, my imaginary talking cat, my metaphorical imaginary talking cat were to eat your toad I could then lick its back. And through my tastebuds it would communicate that not only is Tom Baker a rubbish doctor but Peter Cushing is the bestest doctor ever and should be considered canon.

I remember he used to get a lot of letters from female fans, saying his deep voice made their bosoms tingle. Bit more of ladies' man than some other doctors, perhaps?

My cat Minstrel once informed that if she had her own way she would ban Doctor Who from the house. Thankfully she doesnt have her own way.

Jerry, my very clever mouse, says your cat isn't as clever as he thinks he is. If he had any sense your cat would know, as Jerry does, that Tom Baker didn't top the poll of favourite Classic Doctor's every year without good reason.

He also knows that Tom Baker helped crack the American Market and gave the show some of it's highest ratings ever.

And Jerry knows that.

Because he's clever!

Well I doing my paper round and I just walked past a slug who reckons your cat is stupid and says that Tom baker is a great doctor and the slug also thinks you can see traits of his doctor in all the ones after him.

Me and my cat think Tom was a great Doctor although as one of my cats who is no longer with us was afraid of the daleks he does think that Tom should have killed them in Genesis.

My cat said he never really 'got' Doctor Who and that he prefers Primeval. To the shelter with him!

My cat (Mrs Jefferson) thinks it's a fair point. She thinks that, when Tom's good he's GREAT. Sometimes he can't be arsed, and that annoys Mrs J.

Blanche the labrador is a Troughtonian through and through.

I haven't got a cat either, but even he thinks Tom Baker was indisputably the best Doctor ever.

Is your toad more of a Doctor Who fan than you are ?

What about Davison ?

I don't know much, but I'd say these cats know sod all about Doctor Who if they think Tom Baker was rubbish.

Then again, my dog's a Star Trek geek, so what do I know?

Are you sure it's your cat talking and not Tom doing another voice-over? Does your cat have a really deep voice and keep trying to sell you financial services and washing powder? Indeed, does the sound of your cat's voice make your bosom tingle?

One thing you need to remember about the cat. The cat lies.
