As per every all products, it entirely depends on your requirements as to if its suitable and not overpriced for what you want to do.”

16gb came in at around £15 iirc. So total price £215 for what is without a doubt one of the best specced "low end" tablets on the market.

3G dongles can be used, depends on the firmware used. I just use tethering on my N8 if needed while out and about.

Totally agree with your last comment, but have to give caution on most of these lower end tablets - they're an attractive proposition, but odds are that the stock firmware and hardware on most is close on useless if you want to do anything more than just a bit of browsing - gaming will be terrible in comparison to what is possible on Tegra devices.

I've put on most of the major tegra games, and they're stunning - visuals easily on par with, or possibly beyond what is possible on the iPad.

but I was wondering if anyone had had any experience with cheap, low end tablets ?

i'm not really looking for an all singing, all dancing one - just something that i can do a bit of surfing, check emails, read the occasional ebook and maybe the odd game of angry birds here or there.

something like this ..

which I can get for £65 quid second hand.

cheers ”

Cheap android tablets may do good at first, but for sure, even if you will not be using it the way android users do, there is a great chance that it will not be able to support your needs for a longer time period. However, if that's the thing that you can afford at the moment, you can give it a try but don't hold your hopes up either.

Why not take a look at the Augen Gentouch series of tablets. Or why not visit here for more info.
